The seventeen year-old winner defeated the runner-up 7 and 5 to become the youngest champion ever at the U.S. Amateur. It’s the second straight year the winner has been the youngest in the history of the event, which has been contested 109 times since the inaugural competition in 1895. Maruyama finished with an 8-under 276 total at the event co-sanctioned by the Asian and Japanese tours.

The winner shot a second consecutive 3-under 67 to win the Senior PGA Championship by two shots. The 50-year-old, who has yet to win a PGA TOUR event, posted two late birdies to finish at 6-under 274 and capture the first Champions Tour major of the year in his senior circuit debut. The win was his first of any kind since the 1998 Greater Austin Open on the Nationwide Tour. His only other win came in the 1989 Bell's Scottish Open on the European Tour. It was a Titleist Brand Ambassador 1-2 finish at the Hong Kong Open, where Gregory Bourdy survived a late challenge from rising star Rory McIlroy. Bourdy made four birdies and a bogey for a final round 3-under 67 and a 19-under 261 total to clinch his third European Tour title by two strokes. The win also advances him into the top 60 on the 2009 money list at the final qualifying event for the season-ending Race to Dubai. McIlroy, who fired a final round 6-under 64, moved to the top of the money list with his runner-up finish. McIlroy lost in a playoff at Hong Kong last year.

The winner converted a dramatic 15-foot putt for a birdie on the 72nd hole to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational. It was his first victory since returning from knee surgery after winning the U.S. Open. The three players tied in regulation at 18-under 262. After all three players parred the first playoff hole, Matteson shaped his 190-yard approach shot to within 3 feet on the 464-yard, par-4 17th hole. He rolled in the putt for his second PGA TOUR win. The 29-year-old Matteson entered the final round with a three-stroke lead following consecutive 61s on Friday and Saturday -- a PGA TOUR record for lowest score in consecutive rounds. His first tour victory came as a rookie in 2006, when he won the Frys.com Open in Las Vegas, now called the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

Putting the New 2009 Pro V1x golf ball into play for the first time in competition, the longtime Titleist golf ball loyalist won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, topping three players. He posted a final round 1-under 71 to finish at 14-under 274. It marks the third career PGA TOUR title for the winner, whose previous victories came in 2002, when he won both the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Advil Western Open.

Titleist was the most played golf ball at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with 106 players (68%), compared to 19 for the nearest competitor. Eight of the top 10 finishers trusted Titleist golf balls for their success. Titleist was also first in iron sets (47), wedges (157) and putters (63).
