Acushnet Company's Oceanside Test Facility and Titleist Performance Institute Awarded VPP Star Site by OSHA

Oceanside Building FrontOceanside, CA (March 6, 2008) - Acushnet Company, which is comprised of the Titleist, FootJoy and Cobra golf equipment brands, announced its Oceanside Test Facility and Titleist Performance Institute has been awarded Star Site status by the office of the California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) under the prestigious Voluntary Protection Program (VPP).  Star Site status is presented to an organization whose safety management programs go beyond OSHA standards in its ability to protect workers and create an environment of motivation and confidence in its safety and health programs.  VPP sites are "best in class" and therefore, a select group of facilities.

Jack Drumm, Vice President Test Development - Acushnet Company, will accept the award from Iraj Pourmehraben, California OSHA VPP Area Manager, on behalf of the Acushnet associates in a flag-raising ceremony on Wednesday, March 12 at the Oceanside Test Facility located in the Rancho Del Oro Business Park.

Acushnet Company's Oceanside Test Facility is the first golf company site in California to earn Star Site status, and this marks the sixth Acushnet facility to earn entry into the VPP Program.  In May of 1996, Titleist Ball Plant I in Acushnet, Massachusetts, was named as the first VPP Star Site recipient in the sporting goods industry.  Since then, VPP Star Site status has been awarded to Titleist Custom Golf Ball Operations, Acushnet Company Packaging Center, Titleist Ball Plant II and Titleist Ball Plant III.  In fact, Titleist Ball Plant II was awarded the prestigious 1,000th OSHA Star Site in a celebration attended by U.S. Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health John Henshaw on October 24, 2003.
