THOMAS LEVET TRUSTS NEW PRO V1 GOLF BALL TO CAPTURE OPEN DE ESPAÑATitleist Players Continue to Post More Worldwide Wins than All Other Golf Balls Combined
Fairhaven, MA (May 4, 2009) - Thomas Levet relied upon the New Titleist Pro V1 golf ball to fight off a succession of challenges to win the Open de España by two shots and claim his fifth career PGA European Tour title - a record for a French player. Levet, who started the day as the overnight leader by two shots, closed with a 4-under 68 to finish with an 18-under total of 270. Levet's win marks the 10th by Titleist golf ball players on the 2009 European Tour, compared to 4 for the nearest competitor. Fabrizio Zanotti, trusting the New Titleist Pro V1x, finished 2nd, two shots back. The 25-year old Zanotti, who had never previously posted a top ten finish on the circuit, had nine birdies in a best-of-the-day 7-under 65.
Titleist was the most played golf ball at the event with 108 players (69%), compared to 25 for the nearest competitor. Titleist also tied for first in iron sets (34), and was first in wedges (162).

PGA TOUR: Bubba Watson, who plays the New Titleist Pro V1x, was one of two players who tied for 2nd at the Quail Hollow Championship, one shot behind the winner at 10-under 278. Watson led the field in Driving Distance with a 331.6 average and tied for 1st in Greens in Regulation at 76%. Six players tied for 5th, including Titleist Brand Ambassador Jason Dufner (New 2009 Pro V1, 909 DComp driver, 906F2 fairway metal, 909H hybrid, AP2 irons, Vokey Design wedges, Scotty Cameron Kombi putter). Joining Dufner at 8-under 280 were Cobra Brand Ambassador Ian Poulter (Pro V1x, Cobra S9-1 Pro S driver, Cobra X-Speed and 906F2 fairway metals, 909H hybrid, King Cobra Pro MB irons, Vokey Design Spin Milled wedges), Jonathan Byrd (New 2009 Pro V1x) and Ted Purdy (New 2009 Pro V1).
Titleist was the most played golf ball at the Quail Hollow Championship with 104 players (67%), compared to 19 for the nearest competitor. Titleist was also first in iron sets (44), wedges (146) and putters (59), and second in drivers (41) and fairway metals (59).
WORLDWIDE WINS: Levet’s win advances Titleist’s 2009 worldwide win count to 45, more than three times the nearest competitor with 12, and more than all other golf balls combined.
