New Laguna 1.5 Model Also Added

Fairhaven, MA (March 30, 2010) - The undisputed choice of the world’s best players, club professionals and competitive amateurs, Scotty Cameron by Titleist putters are precision milled to inspire pure putting confidence. Trust in Scotty Cameron putters has been earned not only because of the artistry and craftsmanship found in every Scotty Cameron creation, but also because of Scotty's dedication to product and player research.  Notably prominent across the worldwide professional tours, Cameron putters have been the top choice of more players and more winners on the U.S. PGA TOUR for more than a decade.  As a market leader in the premium putter category, Titleist further solidifies its high performance product offering by extending its successful Studio Select family of putters with two new models.

STUDIO SELECT KOMBI-S PUTTER
The new Kombi-S extends the number of Studio Select Kombi putters to four, all of which are precision milled with adjustable weight port that allows each model to be offered in different length and weight combinations to fit any putting stroke or style.  This flexibility makes it easy for golfers to choose a Kombi putter with the length and weight they need, and the appearance and feel they prefer.

“The creation of the new Kombi-S resulted from our work with players at the Putter Studio and on the practice greens across the worldwide professional tours,” said Scotty Cameron, Master Putter Designer, Titleist.  “We made great strides with the introduction of the original Kombi, offering a remarkably stable mallet putter for those players who need or prefer that style.  The one comment that we received from players who had put the Kombi in play was that they wished we could combine the benefits of the Kombi's three-point weighting technology with the solid feel and sound that you experience in the other Studio Select models.  The solution is in the head material.”

In order to maximize MOI, the original Kombi head became quite large.  To keep its head weight manageable, Cameron milled the Kombi head from lightweight 6061 Aircraft Aluminum.  All the other Studio Select models are milled from Stainless Steel, which produces that solid sound and that distinctive soft, heavy feel.  To duplicate that feel, the new Kombi-S is milled from that same 303 Stainless Steel.  Although steel necessitates a slightly smaller head than the original Kombi, the Kombi-S retains the same weight distribution characteristics and deep CG that makes the Kombi perform so well.   Like its predecessor, the Kombi-S is a perfectly balanced putter that is stable throughout the stroke for forgiveness and great roll.
The Kombi-S utilizes an adjustable central bar weight (similar to that found in the original Kombi Mid and Long putters) that allows for a variety of length and weight combinations to fit any putting stroke or style.  This flexibility makes it easy for golfers to choose a Kombi-S putter with the length and weight they require.

The Kombi-S features a clean, double-bend stepless shaft with a full shaft of offset that provides an unobstructed look at address, while T-shaped, red ink sight lines provide precise alignment references on the topline and body.  A misted topline with a sight line along the rear edge reduces visual thickness and makes face alignment easy.  The Kombi offers a player-preferred shape and a body profile that flows into the ground from topline to rear.

Kombi-S putters are finished with Tour-inspired, bold cherry red three-dot graphics and a red Cameron cord grip.  Each Studio Select Kombi-S putter includes a silver headcover with bold, red, Tour-inspired graphics.  The Studio Select Kombi-S features 4 degrees of loft and 71 degrees of lie.  Loft and lie can be bent plus or minus 2 degrees.

STUDIO SELECT LAGUNA 1.5

In response to feedback from players at the Putter Studio and on the worldwide professional tours, Titleist has updated the Studio Select line with the addition of a new interpretation of a Cameron classic - the Laguna 1.5 model.  The Laguna 1.5 has evolved from the Cameron Classic 2 design that Scotty created in 1993.  It features the same head that is found on the Inspired by Brad Faxon model introduced in late 2001, with a thin heel, heavy toe and 4 degrees of loft, which has been proven optimal in the Putter Studio.  The Laguna 1.5 has a short flare neck and more toe flow for those players looking for more closing gate effect.  The Laguna 1.5 replaces the Newport 2 Midslant model in the Studio Select Line.  The Newport 2 model, which features a traditional plumbing neck, remains in the line.

Including the new Laguna 1.5, there are now nine models in the Studio Select line, all of which are precision milled with adjustable circular weights that allow each model to be offered in five different length and weight combinations to fit any putting stroke or style.  This flexibility makes it easy for golfers to choose a Studio Select putter with the appearance they prefer, the length and weight they need, and a body and neck configuration that provides the proper amount of toe flow during the stroke

ON TOUR:  Every year since 1997, Scotty Cameron putters have been the choice of more players and more champions on the PGA TOUR than any other brand.  This year is no different.  The Kombi, Laguna 1.5 and prototype Kombi-S putters can be found in the bags of and having success with players across all the worldwide professional tours.  Last season, Titleist Brand Ambassador Tom Pernice, Jr. became the 15th player to win in his Champions Tour debut, trusting a Scotty Cameron Studio Select Kombi to convert a 35-foot birdie putt on the final hole for a dramatic one-stroke victory at the SAS Championship.  Michael Bradley trusted a Scotty Cameron Laguna 2.5 model in his victory at the 2009 Puerto Rico Open.  And this season, Titleist Brand Ambassador Bill Haas relied on a Scotty Cameron Kombi putter to capture his first PGA TOUR victory, at the 2010 San Diego Open at Torrey Pines.

“The addition of the new Kombi-S and Laguna 1.5 models provide golfers with exceptional choices,” said Steve Pelisek, General Manager, Titleist Golf Clubs.  “Along with the classically-inspired California line, the Studio Select Fastback and Squareback mid mallets, as well as the traditional models that anchor the Studio Select line, golfers now have even more options to truly fit their eye and, most importantly, their individual putting strokes.  Not only does Scotty's work on Tour and in the Putter Studio allow us to continually keep our putter product lines fresh, but the new models and advancements that he develops give golfers of all abilities the means to definitively improve what is arguably the most important part of their games.”
