BACK-TO-BACK. MIKE WEIR AND TITLEIST PRO V1.
2004 Nissan Open Champion
Fairhaven, MA (February 24, 2004)- Mike Weir knows about winning. He also knows how to close at Riviera, securing back-to-back Nissan Open victories and his seventh career PGA Tour title. Like most of the world's best players, Weir relies upon the exceptional distance, Drop-and-Stop performance and soft feel of Titleist golf balls for his success. He joins Ernie Els (Sony Open/Pro V1x), Phil Mickelson (Bob Hope Chrysler Classic/Pro V1), Jonathan Kaye (FBR Open/Pro V1x) and Vijay Singh (ATT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am/Pro V1x)in the 2004 PGA Tour winners’ circle.Weir, who finished at 17-under par 267 for a one-stroke victory, became the sixth repeat champion of the event. On the Southern Africa Tour, Pro V1 player Andrew McLardy claimed his second victory in three weeks with a three-stroke triumph in the season-ending Tour Championship. Two more wins this week increases Titleist’s victory count across the 2004 worldwide professional tours to 13, nearly three times more than the nearest competitor.
