THE TOUGHEST FIELD. THE YOUNGEST CHAMPION.

Adam Scott Makes History in Victory at The Players Championship.

Adam Scott
Winner of THE PLAYERS Championship

In a field that included 48 of the world's top 50 players competing for golf's richest purse at THE PLAYERS Championship, 23-year old Australian Adam Scott emerged as the best of the best. Scott made history by becoming the youngest player ever to win the event. Posting a world-class performance that included converting a clutch 10-foot putt on the final hole to secure his victory, Scott earned his second career PGA Tour title and his sixth as a professional. A Titleist brand ambassador, Scott trusts the Pro V1x golf ball and 14 Titleist golf clubs for his success.

WHAT’S IN ADAM’S BAG?: Golf Ball: Titleist
Pro V1x; Driver: Titleist Titanium 983E (8.5); 3-Wood: Titleist Pro Trajectory (15.0); Irons: Titleist Forged (2-PW); Wedges: Titleist Vokey Design Sand (56) and Lob (60); Putter: Scotty Cameron by Titleist Newport 2 Stainless.

GOING FOR THE GREENS: Scott, who shot a final round 2-under par 70 en route to a 12-under par 276, led the field in Greens in Regulation with a 75 percent success rate. He also was 5th in Driving Distance averaging 297.5 yards per drive for the tournament, including a 307.5 final round average.

YOUNG GUN: Not only is Adam Scott the youngest winner in The Players Championship history, he also is the youngest player to win on the PGA TOUR since he won the Deutsche Bank Championship last year at the age of 23 years, 1 month, 16 days. This week’s win marked his second PGA Tour title in his last eight starts. Scott has finished in the top-10 in the four events in which he has made the cut in this season, including 7th at the Mercedes Championships, T9 at the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship and T3 at the Bay Hill Invitational. His only missed cut this year came at the SONY Open in Hawaii.

FINAL CHARGE: The runner-up and Pro V1x player made a solid final charge at Scott, firing a back nine 6-under-par 30 in the final round. It was the first time since 1997 that a player posted a 30 on the back nine, and the seventh all-time at the TPC at Sawgrass.

TITLEIST LEADERBOARD: Scott topped a leaderboard on which Titleist golf ball players occupied the top nine positions. A total of 10 of the 12 players who finished among the top 10 and ties played Titleist:

CONSECUTIVE CAMERONS: For the second consecutive week and a PGA Tour-leading sixth time this year, a Scotty Cameron by Titleist putter has been the choice of the champion. Adam Scott captured The Players Championship with a Scotty Cameron by Titleist Newport 2 Stainless model. A total of 65 players or nearly 44 percent of the field placed their confidence in Cameron putters at TPC. In fact, 7 of the 12 players who finished among the top 10 and ties at TPC relied upon Cameron putters.

WALKER WINS SECOND ON NATIONWIDE TOUR: Jimmy Walker (Pro V1x) became the fastest player in Nationwide Tour history to record multiple wins in a season when he captured the Chitimacha Louisiana Open. It marked his second victory through the first four events this year. He also won the season-opening BellSouth Panama Championship. Walker started the final round 8 strokes behind the leader but fired a 7-under par 65, including birdies on four of the final five holes to win by one shot. Titleist players have won three of the first four events on 2004 Nationwide Tour.

MORE WINS THAN ALL OTHER GOLF BALLS COMBINED: Wins by Scott and Walker this week increase Titleist’s year-to-date victory count to 28, more than all other golf balls combined. Scott’s victory marks the 9th for Titleist golf ball players through the first 13 PGA Tour events this season. He joins Chad Campbell (Pro V1x/Bay Hill Invitational), Todd Hamilton (Pro V1/Honda Classic), Heath Slocum (Pro V1x/Chrysler Classic of Tucson), Mike Weir (Pro V1/Nissan Open), Vijay Singh (Pro V1x/AT&T Pebble Beach), Jonathan Kaye (Pro V1x/FBR Open), Phil Mickelson (Pro V1/Bob Hope) and Ernie Els (Pro V1x/Sony Open) in Titleist’s 2004 Winners’ Circle.
