Already the Utility Iron of Choice of More PGA Tour Professionals than any Other Competitor

New 503.H Utility Iron
Fairhaven, MA (September 14, 2004) - Offering a great combination of performance attributes through its innovative design and construction, Titleist introduces the new 503.H Utility Iron, a versatile utility club designed to provide a distance and trajectory solution at the long end of the set. Available in lofts of 19 and 22 degrees, the Titleist 503.H provides a more manageable trajectory versus a high lofted fairway metal and a more playable trajectory versus a long iron.

"Serious golfers are more aware than ever of the importance of their overall set composition, especially in the long game," commented Chris McGinley, Vice President Golf Club Marketing, Titleist. "The Titleist 503.H Utility Iron is designed to be a long game yardage and trajectory solution, offering players an alternative to high lofted fairways or conventional long irons. The 503.H will help optimize long game yardage gaps, and provide a more controllable and playable trajectory."

Like all high performance Titleist branded equipment, the 503.H Utility Iron has been thoroughly Tour-tested and validated prior to being introduced to the marketplace. The 503.H began being seeded with tour professionals at the Sony Open in January and has been the most played Utility Iron at every full-field event on the 2004 PGA Tour since the Darrell Survey officially began listing the category at the U.S. Open in June. Over 50 different players have carried the Titleist 503.H in PGA Tour competition including BellSouth Classic champion Zach Johnson, as well as Brad Faxon, Ben Curtis, Mark O'Meara, Robert Gamez, Brian Bateman and Aaron Barber among others.

431 Stainless Steel Body/Molded Carbon Fiber Composite Core
A light weight, molded carbon fiber composite core provides structure for the thin face design.
Thin face design allows for optimum weight distribution and a deeper center of gravity (CG).
Composite core in combination with thin face dampens vibration and provides for lively feel with solid, iron-like sound.

Tungsten Screw
Located in the sole of the club, the dense tungsten screw helps position the CG low and deep.
Provides launch and trajectory benefits including more control versus a high loft fairway and more playability versus a long iron.

Traditional Face Profile
Sand blasted topline provides a better appearance in the setup position.
Deep CG design with less visual offset provides playability without sacrificing looks.

Wide Sole Design
Provides playability from a variety of lies.

Launch and Spin
The 503.H launches lower and spins less than a comparable fairway metal for better shot and trajectory control. It launches higher and spins more than a comparable loft conventional iron providing a more playable trajectory.

The 503.H is 1" to 2" shorter than a comparable fairway club for better shot and trajectory control while providing similar distance.
At 40.0" in the 19º and 39.5" in the 22º, the 503.H is a half-inch longer than a comparable loft conventional iron providing additional trajectory and ball speed benefits for better yardage gapping. Length can be customized +/- 1 inch, while the lie can be customized +/- 2 degrees.

Stock Shafts
True Temper Dynamic Gold Steel: The better player standard for solid feel, weight feedback and trajectory control.
Aldila NV 85 Hybrid Graphite: The iron version of the popular NV shaft. It features a dense laminate construction for feel and a stable tip for control, and provides a slightly higher ball flight than the Dynamic Gold steel shaft.

The new Titleist 503.H Utility Iron is available in both right and left hand and will commence shipping to golf shops in October with a suggested retail price of $185 per club/steel and $225 per club/graphite.
