The Golf Fitness Academy Presented by Titleist Gets You Started in the Gym, Tonight on The Golf Channel

Fairhaven, MA (July 18, 2005) - Going to the gym for the first time, or returning after a long absence, can be intimidating. Tonight's episode of the Golf Fitness Academy presented by Titleist, will provide a beginner's guide to cardio, flexibility, strength and stability training, as well as demonstrations of all the equipment you need to improve your health and golf game.

"Getting Started in the Gym," will air tonight, July 18 at 8:40pm EDT on The Golf Channel.

Hosts Dave Phillips and Dr. Greg Rose will be joined by Randy Myers, Director of Fitness at Sea Island Resorts, and author of The Official PGA National Golf Stretching Guide. Myers has created golf specific exercise programs for thousands of golfers, and in May 1999 was named "Golf's Top Fitness Trainer," by Golf Digest Magazine. He has also written fitness articles for national publications such as Sports Illustrated, Men's Health, Golf for Women, Elle, Teen, Fast Company, and Fitness magazine.

Randy will take you through a full body workout, beginning with proper warm-up and stretching techniques using some of the most popular cardio equipment. He will then demonstrate exercises to improve flexibility and mobility, key factors in a fluid, powerful golf swing. He finishes by showing viewers how to properly use the cable machines and free weights.

Now in its second season on The Golf Channel, Golf Fitness Academy Presented by Titleist offers a wide range of useful tips that directly relate to producing a more efficient swing, from conditioning exercises for all golfers which improve upper and lower strength, flexibility and endurance to identifying obstacles and prescribing solutions for specific categories of golfers, such as women, juniors, and players with bad posture.

Filmed at the state-of-the-art Titleist Performance Institute in Oceanside, California, the 2005 series will feature Titleist-affiliated tour and club professionals, as well as special guests from the golf and fitness communities.
