Correct Your Slice with Help from “Golf Fitness Academy Presented by Titleist”

Fairhaven, MA (September 9, 2005) – On this episode of “Golf Fitness Academy presented by Titleist,” co-hosts Dave Phillips and Dr. Greg Rose will address a problem that affects most golfers at some point – the dreaded slice.

While most players assume a slice is a result of mechanical errors in their swing, Dave and Greg explain that it may be more related to three common physical limitations - the inability to separate the upper and lower body, flexibility, and lower body strength.

After demonstrating methods for testing your limitations, Greg and Dave take viewers through a series of stretches, resistance and flexibility exercises, many of which can be done in the gym or at home, to help prevent a slice.

“Slice” will air Monday, September 12 at 7:30 p.m. EDT on The Golf Channel. It will re-air September 13 at 1:00 a.m., 5:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. EDT.

Throughout the episode, Greg and Dave, with help from Randy Myers, Director of Fitness at Sea Island Resorts, offer several additional “Performance Tips” to help correct a slice, including drills for the practice range and ways to increase flexibility.

Now in its second season on The Golf Channel, “Golf Fitness Academy presented by Titleist” offers a wide range of useful tips that directly relate to producing a more efficient swing - from conditioning exercises for all golfers which improve upper and lower body strength, flexibility and endurance to identifying obstacles and prescribing solutions for specific categories of golfers, such as women, juniors and players with bad posture.

Filmed at the state-of-the-art Titleist Performance Institute in Oceanside, California, the 2005 series will feature Titleist-affiliated tour and club professionals, as well as special guests from the golf and fitness communities.
