A Quick 9: Rosie Jones and Laura Diaz

Rosie Jones and Laura Diaz return this week to Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, CA for the Kraft Nabisco Championship, the LPGA's first major of the year. Last year Jones posted a runner-up finish, while Diaz tied for third. We recently caught up with the 2005 Solheim Cup teammates for a Quick 9 as they prepared for this week's Championship...

1. What do you do for fun away from the course?
Rosie Jones: I like to go antique shopping, work on my house and yard and play with my dog.
Laura Diaz: I love going to the movies, especially movies with Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington and Julia Roberts. They're my favorites. I also enjoy cooking and spending time with my family.

2. What jobs did you have before golf?
RJ: I suppose you could say I’ve always worked in golf-related fields. I mowed lawns as a kid and then worked primarily in pro shops before making golf my profession.
LD: I was a waitress for a while and then a clerk at a party supply store.

3. Who is/was your role model and why?
RJ
: My high school teachers. They gave me the confidence to pursue my dreams and taught me discipline and hard work.
LD: My father because he worked so hard to provide for our family and my mother because she worked so hard to care for us kids.

4. What magazines do you read regularly and what are your favorite TV shows?
RJ
: My favorite magazines are Log Home Living, People and Southern Living.
LD: I always read Golf for Women. In terms of TV shows, I'm big into the sci-fi crime shows, like CSI, Criminal Minds, House and Law & Order SVU.

5. If you could play a round of golf with three other people, who would they be (living or deceased)?
RJ: Tina Turner, Brad Pitt and Martina Navratilova
LD: My father, husband and brother (with my son, Cooper in the cart). They are the people I love to play golf with the most.

6. What’s your most prized possession?
RJ: My dog
LD: My son, Cooper

7. Do you have any superstitions? Any lucky rituals or items you keep in your pocket and/or golf bag?
RJ
: My lucky item is my Bud Lite divot tool.
LD: I always kiss my husband Kevin before teeing off and I keep my godfather's dogtags in my bag at all times.

8. What was your first car and what do you drive now?
RJ
: My first car was a Honda Prelude and now I drive a Jaguar XJ8L.
LD: First car was a Ford Tempo. Right now I have a Lexus 330.

9. What was your best moment on the golf course?
RJ
: Playing for the U.S. in the 2005 Solheim Cup and making some big putts for the team.
LD: That's a tie between the singles matches at the 2005 Solheim Cup with my husband caddying for me and the 2005 PGA Championship when I caddied for my brother.
