Build a Stronger Base with “Golf Fitness Academy presented by Titleist”
Al Vermiel, a world-renowned strength and conditioning coach who has worked with championship teams in the NFL, NBA, MLB, as well as individually with many Tour players, demonstrates how viewers can build a stronger base to improve their golf game and overall posture.
Working with co-hosts Dr. Greg Rose and Dave Phillips, Vermeil begins by explaining the importance of a strong base for golf as well as overall posture. He then walks through each of the four core exercises - the upright row, muscle snatch, squat to press and bent over row - demonstrating proper posture, how to integrate golf posture and variations to each exercise as skill and comfort improves.
Throughout the episode Vermeil offers additional “Performance Tips” to improve your golf game, including ways to improve flexibility in shoulder and thigh muscles and tips for strengthening your hamstrings and back.
To conclude the show, Al shows how the four core exercises, which can be done at home using only a pair of dumbbells, can also be combined to develop strength and cardio circuits.
“Build Your Base” will air Monday, April 24 at 8:40 p.m. EDT on The Golf Channel. It will re-air April 28 at 5:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
