Texas-Sized Momentum

Verplank Trusts Titleist in Emotional Victory at EDS Byron Nelson Championship

Fulfilling a childhood dream, long time Titleist golf ball loyalist Scott Verplank trusted the New Pro V1 to earn the biggest and most emotional victory of his career.  A native Texan, Verplank secured a one-shot win at the EDS Byron Nelson Championship over Pro V1x player Luke Donald.  Additional victories on the LPGA, Asian and Canadian Tours advance Titleist's victory count across the worldwide professional tours to 52, more than seven times the nearest competitor with 7.

Notes from the Tours ...

PGA TOUR: Scott Verplank, who as a teenager growing up in Dallas got to know Byron Nelson, converted a two-foot par putt on the final hole to win the first EDS Byron Nelson Championship played without its namesake.

Verplank closed with a 4-under-66 to finish with a 13-under 267 total, earning his fifth PGA TOUR victory.  Verplank and Donald were the only two players to shoot four consecutive rounds in the 60s.  Jerry Kelly (New Pro V1x) and Ian Poulter (New Pro V1x) were among four players tied for third at 10-under.
