LPGA Star Laura Diaz Demonstrates How to Get Back in Shape Following a Hiatus, on the Next ''Golf Fitness Academy presented by Titleist''

On the next all-new episode of Golf Fitness Academy, co-hosts Dr. Greg Rose and Dave Phillips welcome LPGA star Laura Diaz to the show to demonstrate the three phases you need to work on to get back in shape after a long hiatus, such a pregnancy or injury. Laura is joined by her 10-month-old son, Cooper, and her trainer, Brett Chepenik from Gracor Fitness, as they go through the program that got Laura, and her golf game, back into shape following her pregnancy.  If you’ve been away from the gym, or the golf course, for an extended period of time, don’t miss this episode!   

During the first phase which focuses on strength training, Laura and Brett demonstrate a series of push and pull exercises to target large muscles in the chest and back as well as exercises for the legs – all of which are important for developing power and maintaining posture in the golf swing. The second phase is intended to improve overall conditioning by combining weights with cardiovascular exercises to get the entire body working efficiently and effectively at the same time. The third phase is a maintenance program to help build and sustain total body strength and flexibility featuring exercises for the abs, chest, legs, biceps and shoulders. As with all exercise programs, the group stresses the importance of stretching to prevent injury and to lengthen muscles which helps prevent tightness.

Episode 10: Laura Diaz airs Wednesday, June 27, at 10:30 p.m. EDT.  It will re-air June 28 at 2 a.m., July 1 at 4:30 p.m., July 2 at 6:30 p.m. and July 3 at 5:30 a.m.

During this season’s “Player Series,” Rose and Phillips, cofounders of the Titleist Performance Institute, offer tips that directly relate to producing a better all-around golf game.  They address a range of topics with the help of players from the PGA and LPGA Tours including Charley Hoffman, Brett Quigley, Troy Matteson, Brad Faxon, Minea Blomqvist, Charles Warren, Jonathan Byrd and Laura Diaz, as well as Villegas and Masters Champion Zach Johnson, who was on the series premiere.  Special guests from the golf and fitness communities also provide valuable information for golfers of all abilities. The Golf Fitness Academy sessions were filmed at the state-of-the-art Spa & Fitness Facility at the Sea Island Resort in Sea Island, Georgia, and the Titleist Performance Institute in Oceanside, California.

The Hosts
Dr. Greg Rose is a board certified Doctor of Chiropractic who also holds a degree in Engineering.  He helped pioneer the field of analyzing computerized 3-D motion and how the body works during the golf swing.  Dr. Rose specializes in strength and conditioning, manual therapy, rehabilitation, nutritional supplementation and therapeutic exercises as they relate to golf, and has worked with more than 500 professional and 3,000 amateur golfers to help them reach their peak performance.

Dave Phillips is a PGA Professional and consistently listed among GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 teachers.  Considered one of the world’s premier instructors, Dave applies his expertise in computerized swing analysis and biomechanics to create a clear picture of what happens during the golf swing.  Born in England and raised in Africa and Australia, Dave has had the unique experience of playing with and instructing some of the game’s greatest golfers worldwide.
