Summer is finally here and the golf season is in full swing. What better time to present the latest edition of our Team Titleist member spotlight series?

This month, we feature a dedicated golfer and longtime Team Titleist member, Chris M. Hatem (Christopher H on the boards). Chris is one of our most active contributors to the discussion boards and you may also recognize him from our recent AP (714 Series) Irons advertising campaign. Chris, a New Hampshire native and putting aficionado, is a proud father of two sons and, as you'll learn, introducing his boys to the game is becoming one of his greatest joys.

Get to know Chris a little better from his interview below...

How did you get started in golf and who introduced you to the game?

No one really introduced me to the game, it started with me and my buddies (early teenage years) heading to the driving range to see who could hit it the farthest. I never really hit the links until I was 15, 16 years old. Back then it was $90 for a membership for the whole season, unlimited play. Imagine that? And my first set of clubs came from my great Aunt after her husband passed away. Those were some old clubs and hard to hit!

How often are you thinking about your golf game and getting better? What are you currently working on?

I’m always thinking about my golf game and how I can get better. The Golf Channel is always on, I'm reading magazines, watching videos online - it’s never ending. I just love the game that much. But in regards to getting better, you need to practice a lot and with two young boys, it’s tough to do that. So I take what I can get and make the best of it.

I did have lessons a few weeks ago and at the moment I’m working on my posture and keeping my arms close to my body on the downswing.

Most importantly I’m doing crossfit at MaxEdge Fitness. I think it’s crucial to keep your body in shape and be healthy. If you want to enjoy playing golf for a very long time, you need this. I’m not sure where I would be if it wasn’t for that gym.

What model Titleist golf ball do you play and how do you mark it?

Pro V1x. I’ve tried many golf balls over the years and I always end up going back to this one. Why? Pro V1x gives me the feel, the performance and the confidence I need to play my best.

I mark it with #33 – My idol Larry Bird. And “Speedy”. I got the nickname a few years ago from my golf buddies. I think it’s because I walk faster than they do.

What's your favorite Titleist club in the bag?

Scotty Cameron Newport Select. I truly believe putting is the most important part of your game. If you think about it, where do most of your strokes come from? I’ve been through a few putters over the years and this putter has given me the most confidence when playing. I sent it out last year to get it customized by Scotty so it’s safe to say this putter is not going anywhere for a very long time.

Have any on-course superstitions?

Yes, a ball marker and one tee always in my right pocket.

If you had to play one golf course every day for the rest of your life, which one would it be?

I’m going to be being realistic here and pick my home course, Portsmouth Country Club in Portsmouth NH. I just got on the waiting list this year and very excited to be a member there someday. This a course I could never get bored playing. Why? 1.) The fairways and greens are always top notch, they do a great job taking care of the course; 2.) The scenery is beautiful especially on the back; 3.) You need EVERY club in your bag – the weather there is unpredictable especially with the winds; and 4.) In my opinion it's the best semi-private course in New Hampshire.

Do you consider yourself a tinkerer? How often do you change equipment?

Yes, drivers. I’ve been through four or five different drivers over the last few years alone. But I’m hoping that changes this year with the 915. Stay tuned.

What's the most special moment you've ever had on the golf course?

It wasn’t on the course but the driving range. Watching my two boys hit balls with me I could just sit there all day and watch them. They were having a ball. Hopefully someday I’ll have a special moment with them on the course.

How long have you been a member of Team Titleist? What are some of your favorite features of the community and what kind of things would you like to see in the future?

I’ve been a member now for about three or four years now. The best features of the community is interacting with everyone and talking about everything. Whether it’s a major tournament, a PGA/LPGA/Senior player, new Titleist equipment coming out, I mean everyone has something interesting to say and it’s a lot of fun to read. Also love the get togethers and putting faces to the names. I played a few events last year and met some great people and forever thankful.

For the future, I would love to see more TT events whether it’s someone hosting one or Team Titleist putting one on. It’s a blast meeting new people who enjoy the game and playing with Titleist as much I do. All I can say is, if someone in your hometown is hosting a TT event, go. The friendship you’ll make is well worth the trip. And don’t get me started with the 19th hole.

After the pressure and drama of last week's U.S. Open Championship, the PGA Tour eases back into action this week in Cromwell Connecticut. TPC River Highlands once again plays host to the Travelers Championship, a favorite stop for many players and their families.

TPC River Higlands will offer a stark contrast to the style of golf we witnessed at Chambers Bay. The lush 6,841-yard par-70 layout invites aggressive play and the eventual Travelers champion will need to fire at pins and be bold with the putter.

Team Titleist was on hand at the start of the week as players took a collective deep breath and got ready for the second half of the 2015 season. Take a look through our photo gallery above for exclusive images of Titleist Brand Ambassadors Zach Johnson, Tim Clark, Matt Jones, Justin Thomas, Roger Sloan and Morgan Hoffmann (among many others) on the practice tee and during their practice rounds at the Travelers.

TITLEIST BY THE NUMBERS

Titleist is the top choice at The Travelers Championship with 100 players in the field of 156 trusting a Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball for their success. That's more than 5 times the nearest competitor with 17 and more than all competitors combined.

Titleist also led the field in the irons (41) categories and Titleist Vokey Design wedges were the top choice among players in the approach, sand and lob wedge category with 153.
