When Rory McIlroy arrived at the Ocean Course's 18th green Sunday to play his 72nd and final hole of the PGA Championship, he was two putts away from a bogey-free final round. He only needed one. Rory stepped up to his Pro V1x and rolled in the 25-foot birdie putt to put an exclamation mark on a record-setting performance and claim the Wanamaker Trophy.
“It's just been incredible," McIlroy said after his final-round 66. "I had a good feeling about it at the start. I never imagined to do this.”
Trusting his Pro V1x, new prototype 913D3 8.5 driver and a bag full of Titleist equipment, McIlroy filled his scorecard with pars (45) and birdies (20) en route to a 13-under 275 total and eight-shot victory – the largest margin of victory ever recorded at the PGA Championship. The previous record stood for 32 years.
The youngest ever to win the PGA Championship, Rory’s win also vaulted him back to the top spot in the Official World Golf Ranking.
“To win my second major and get to world number one all in the same day is very special,” added McIlroy.
Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x players have now won 108 times across the worldwide professional tours in 2012, nine times the nearest competitor with 12 and more than all competitors combined.
McIlroy's win marks the third major championship for Titleist in 2012, as he follows Masters champion and Pro V1x loyalist Bubba Watson and U.S. Open winner and Titleist Brand Ambassador Webb Simpson.
With a PGA Championship to go along with his 2011 U.S. Open Championship, McIlroy becomes the sixth-youngest player ever with two majors.
'It's just great to be able to put my name on another major championship trophy, and looking forward to April next year and getting a crack at another one," he said.

McIlroy led the field in Driving Distance with a 311.5 yard average off the tee, and his win marks the first major championship with the new Titleist 913 prototype driver and the first 913 win on the 2012 PGA Tour. Titleist began the seeding process of the 913D2 and 913D3 prototype drivers with PGA Tour players at the AT&T National in June, which was subsequently followed by player seeding on the European, Web.com and Asian Tours, and across all of the major worldwide professional tours.
In early July, Rory worked closely with the Titleist tour support team in advance of the Irish Open to get dialed-in with his new prototype 913 driver and immediately put it into the bag after the fitting session. Check out the full story here.
The new Titleist 913 drivers will begin shipping to golf shops in November.
In addition to solid driving, Rory had his Scotty Cameron putter dialed in and only needed 109 putts over four days averaging 1.51 putts per hole. In the final round, he tamed the greens on the Ocean Course with a stellar 23-putt performance (1.27 putts per hole average).
McIlroy becomes the third Titleist Brand Ambassador to earn multiple victories on the PGA Tour this year, joining Jason Dufner (Zurich Classic, Byron Nelson Championship) and Zach Johnson (Crowne Plaza Invitational, John Deere Classic). Additional full product line Titleist ambassadors to win in 2012 include: Steve Stricker (Hyundai Tournament of Champions), Kyle Stanley (Waste Management Phoenix Open), Bill Haas (Northern Trust Open), Ben Curtis (Valero Texas Open), Webb Simpson (U.S. Open), Marc Leishman (Travelers Championship), Scott Stallings (True South Classic) and Scott Piercy (RBC Canadian Open).
Also finishing in the Top 10 at the PGA Championship, Pro V1x loyalist Ian Poulter took home a share of third and Titleist Brand Ambassador Steve Stricker along with Pro V1 loyalist Jamie Donaldson and Pro V1x loyalist Blake Adams all finished T7.

Earlier this week Team Titleist made the journey to Kiawah Island, S.C. to catch up with the field at the season's final major, the 94th PGA Championship. A variety of challenging weather conditions and 7,700 yards will be a demanding test for a talented 156-player roster that includes the top 108 players in the current Official World Golf Ranking.
In total, 92 players in the field are trusting Titleist golf balls for their success, more than four times the nearest competitor with 21 and more than all other golf balls combined. Titleist is also first in iron sets (48), putters (52) and sand, lob and approach wedges (151).

The 94th PGA Championship marks the second major appearance for the new prototype Titleist 913 drivers and the buzz on tour continues to grow. Now factor in a course that's playing around 7,700 yards, and it should be no surprise that distance and overall performance off the tee are a couple of elements that players will be focusing on while traversing the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island.
This week, 26 players in the field are gaming a new Prototype 913 driver (913D3 – 18 / 913D2 - 8) and Team Titleist recently checked in with Titleist Brand Ambassadors Geoff Ogilvy, JJimmy Walker, Bill Haas, Marc Leishman and Nick Watney to get their initial reactions on the new drivers.
"It looks really good and we noticed that off-center hits seem to still keep up the speed that an on-center-hit would have. It's nice to know that the ball's going to go the same distance with an off-center hit," said Walker.
Players continued to work with the Titleist Tour Support team to dial-in their SureFit Tour settings to optimize ball flight and launch conditions. This tour van in a hosel technology ensures a precision fit that also translates into more confidence.
"I use the B•2 setting which makes it a hair more upright," said Haas. "It looks good when you set up behind the ball. So, when you're comfortable, sometimes that's all you need."
A little over a month into the tour seeding and performance validation process, the 913 drivers have already recorded three wins on the worldwide professional tours and continue to build momentum with 913D3 and 913D2 models representing more than half of the Titleist drivers in play at the PGA Championship.
Hear what else the players had to say in the video above and take a closer look at their driver specs below.

This week at the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship being held at The Country Club in Cleveland, Ohio, women golfers from around the globe are hoping to take home the Cox Trophy in one of the original three USGA championships.
In total, 132 players in the field are trusting Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf balls for their success, more than 14 times the nearest competitor with 9 and more than all other golf balls combined.
Titleist is also first in iron sets (39), sand, lob and approach wedges (176) and putters (58).
Fun Fact: The Cox Trophy was presented in 1896 by Robert Cox, of Gorgie, Edinburgh, Scotland, a member of Britain’s Parliament. It is the only USGA trophy donated by a person from another country and is the oldest survivor among trophies for USGA championships.
