This week as the first leg of the 2012 PGA Tour Playoffs for the FedEx Cup kicks off, Titleist Brand Ambassador and newly crowned winner of the PGA Championship, Rory McIlroy, will be adding new prototype Titleist 913 fairway metals to his bag. After working closely with the Titleist Tour Support team earlier in the week at The Barclays, McIlroy headed to the 10th tee on Thursday  (he started on the back side) ready to put the new clubs through their paces.

"Rory's had such good success with the 913 driver that he was very excited to see the 913 fairways," said  Chris Tuten, Director of Titleist Tour Promotions.

The switch for McIlroy is significant considering he has played the Titleist 906F 3 and 5 metals for the majority of his professional career.  He recently replaced his 18* 906F2 5-metal at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational with a Titleist 910F 17* model.  He played the 910F again one week later when he captured his second career major in a record-breaking victory at the PGA Championship.

The Barclays marked the debut of the new prototype Titleist 913 fairways and hybrids on tour.  The new metals follow the tour introduction of the prototype 913 drivers that have been in play across the worldwide professional tours since June.  Titleist had a total of 56 combined fairways (36) and hybrids (20) in play at The Barclays, including 11 prototype 913 fairway metals and four prototype 913 hybrids.

The list of players putting new prototype 913 fairways and hybrids in play at The Barclays includes Titleist Brand Ambassadors Greg Chalmers, Ben Crane, Ben Curtis, Brian Davis, Brendon deJonge, Graham DeLaet, Martin Flores, Chris Kirk and Jimmy Walker.
