As golfers, we've come to expect the unexpected from the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship. Sure, gather the best 64 players in the world and seed them in a bracket and watch February Madness ensue.

But, SNOW? Delaying the start of a golf tournament? The above photo from Pro V1x loyalist Ian Poulter captures the story earlier this week.

Still, Team Titleist found a way to get a few lenses around The Golf Club at Dove Mountain before hot chocolate became the beverage of choice.

And as the snow melts off the fairways and greens at Dove Mountain, the majority of players trust that performance is the Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x. Titleist is the overwhelming top choice in golf balls at the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship with 34 of the players in the field of 64 relying upon a Pro V1 or Pro V1x, more than three times the nearest competitor with 10, and more than all competitors combined.

Poulter is one of 21 who will be relying upon a new 2013 Pro V1 (5) or Pro V1x (16) golf ball this week.

Titleist was also the favorite in the sand, lob and approach wedge category (49).

From all corners of the earth, players who rely on a Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x for their success proved again Sunday why Titleist is the #1 ball in golf.

On the PGA Tour, hometown favorite and Titleist Brand Ambassador John Merrick trusted his New 2013 Pro V1x to his first career victory on the PGA Tour in a playoff victory at the Northern Trust Open. The LPGA began their season this week and Pro V1 loyalist Jiyai Shin trusted her New 2013 Pro V1 to a come-from-behind victory at the ISPS Handa Australian Women's Open. On the European Tour, Pro V1x loyalist Darren Fichardt trusted the performance of his New 2013 Pro V1x to win the Africa Open by two shots. For the second time in three seasons, Titleist Pro V1 loyalist Bernard Langer captured the Ace Group Classic on the Champions Tour. And on the Australasian Tour it was Titleist Brand Ambassador Brad Kennedy joining the group in the winner's circle with his Pro V1x.

PGA: Defending champion and Titleist Brand Ambassador Bill Haas began Sunday's round of the Northern Trust Open with a three stroke lead over fellow Titleist Brand Ambassadors Webb Simpson and John Merrick. But Sunday proved a special break-through day for Merrick.

John birdied the par-4 10th and par-5 11th hole Sunday at Riviera to take sole possession of the lead at 12-under. Merrick then withstood the charge from the most talented field to compete on tour thus far in 2013, to qualify for the tournament-deciding playoff. In his seventh season on tour, Merrick continued his strong performance by making a pair of pars to triumph and to capture his first career PGA Tour victory and jump to 4th in the FEDEX Cup standings. What makes the victory even more sweet is the fact that Merrick grew up in nearby Long Beach, CA, played collegiate golf 6 miles down the road at UCLA, and has dreamed of winning a professional tournament at Riviera since he was a boy.

"To win a tournament in front of family and friends and in your hometown with people shouting out 'Bruins' and 'Long Beach' to win a tournament in front of them, on the PGA TOUR with this field and all the past champions and this golf course, this is one of my favorite golf courses?? it's my favorite course, actually. I can't even describe it.  It's a dream come true."

Here at Titleist, we believe performance is for every player, every round, every shot.

More than 45,000 golfers around the world participated in the R&D testing process for the new 2013 Pro V1 and Pro V1x, each golfer receiving prototype golf balls and having the opportunity to report their feedback through Team Titleist.

So we hit the road and met up with some Team Titleist members in California, Florida and Virginia to capture some of their initial reactions as they got to take the new golf balls out for a test drive.

A few TT members even made the final cut for the television vignette which you can watch here.

PGA Professional Barry Evans (Berry Hills Country Club, Charleston, WV) found the new Pro V1 and Pro V1x to be another step forward for the #1 ball in golf.

“It's hard to improve on something that is the best on the market. Knowing Titleist, they've tweaked it to make it that much better.”

Duncan found the improved performance of his new Pro V1 into greens to be a confidence builder: “It allows me to be a little bit more aggressive and trust my golf swing a little bit more.”

Dan B. was impressed by the feel and control of his new Pro V1 on his scoring shots: "It will just allow me to be a better all around player. Because it's something I can trust."

Brian particularly enjoyed the improved durability of his new Pro V1x: “The cover is extremely durable. I hit wedge shots, and hit spinners, and had the golf ball hold up 18 holes. That's fantastic.”
