I hit a full 5 iron ball hopped one time then hit pin, after that ball droped in hole. Also had one at carolina lakes # 8 hole up hill 6 iron 3 years earlier.
I was golfing with my little brother that I have golfed with for 25 yrs. He was down on vacation and we where playing Cotton Creek in Golf Shores Al hole #8. It was the first hole in one he ever saw, he was more excited than I was. I could not have had a better witness than my kid brother. I try to keep it in the family, my first hole in one was witnessed by my dad and daughter.

Today on the Par 3 5th hole at Prestonwood Country Club's Fairway's course, I hit a 6 iron 174 yards and watched the ball bounce twice on the green and then roll disappearing into the hole. My regular foursome witnessed my first hole-in-one. In July 1988, I had the pleasure of scoring a double eagle after hitting a 4 wood for my 2nd shot on a par 5. But I had to wait 52 years, since taking up the game at age 11, and 25 years after my double eagle to get my 1st hole-in-one. What a thrill and well worth the wait.
I walked up to a short 112 yard Par 3 down hill, and over water. I decided to go with a light PW rather than hitting a SW. I knew with the PW I would have to get under it a little and go with about a 3/4 swing. I put a good smooth swing on it, and made a shot that I will never forget.
There is not much to tell, I hit a 22deg. wood with a slight draw and it hit just of the green, the hole was about 5 yards from the edge and it rolled just like a putt into the cup,wow one happy golfer. Millard Ferris
