Hole-in-one stories

Ran the Erie Presque Isle Marathon on Sunday qualifying for the Boston Marathon by nearly 30 minutes with a 3:10. Next day, Monday, with some overall body soreness from the race had great opportunity to play in the Buffalo Bills Alumni Golf Tourney. Our 2nd hole at Seneca Hickory Stick (beautiful new layout north of Niagara Falls, NY) was the 12th ... approx 157yds into a rather strong headwind. Chose a 7 iron and really smoothed it! One of my playing partners was laying down heavy compliment on how nice the swing was ... we were chatting back and forth not really paying attention on the finish of the shot ... while another partner said matter of fact "I think that went into the hole". Sure enough my Titleist Pro V1 392 was in the cup! With sore legs, my short irons for some reason were laser focused that day but my long game was horrible. I also won the tourney's "closest to the pin hole" with a shot to 11 inches. This is my 2nd hole-in-one, my first was during a high school golf match 38 years ago as a 16 year old. Didn't think it would take so long to get another one! Plan next spring day after the Boston Marathon ... I will play a round of golf somewhere hoping the HIO magic can strike again!

My first hole in one

On July 11 2013 after so many close calls playing a Pro-Vix # 4 at Old York Country Club hole # 2 playing 178 yd, I hit the shot that I dream of every night easy 5 iron two bounces and roll into the hole. I was the star for the week. Thank you Titleist for a wonderful ball.

In all the way

Playing with good friends...made hole in one #3 in my golfing career and still lost money. The friendship of my partners is more important anyway. What a great day.

two in 90 days

It was 2004 and I hadn't made a hole in one in 20 years. I was at Olde Mill golf course in Virginia and aced 14,about an 160 yard par three all carry over a lake. Less that 90 days later I was playing in the pro am at the GGCC in Greensboro NC and aced 17.
Since then I have had two more aces and a double eagle, but none in the last two years.

My First Hole in One

My very first hole-in-one. It was on 9th hole at Crab Meadow Golf Course in Huntington, NY. The hole was 155 yards but played as 165-170 yards. It was a windy and very cloudy day. I used 5-hybrid. The ball bounced once and disappeared. I didn't see it went into the hole but my playing partners thought it went into the hole. Rich is the soccer and golf coach at St. Anthony High School. Rich said he thought it hopped in but he was not sure. I have a bad knee and Rich got there first and yelled "Hole-in-One"! I was very excited but didn't know how to react. They took pictures of me. At the end, my three playing partners signed my scorecard and we asked the club house attendant to take a group picture for us!
