Tyler Schultz Hole-In-One

Tyler Schultz Hole-In-One

I had drove a little over two hours the night before to play in a golf scramble that my brother-in-law asked me to play in along with his brother and friend. The scramble was to benefit his friend's daughter. This was my first time seeing this course. We got to this hole and I shot the yardage at 223 yards which is longer than my 3-iron but at the low end of my 5-wood. The other 3 players hit and we did not have a ball too close to the green yet. The wind was left to right and as you can see in the picture there was a decent size tree that hung over the left side a little more than halfway to the hole. I pictured that my only way to go at the green was to hit a high shot over the tree and let the wind bring it back to the center of the green. When I hit the ball it had started exactly as I pictured. The wind was bringing it right toward the flag. We saw the ball come down and then couldn't see it after that and it was far enough away that we couldn't tell what had happened. I didn't want to get over excited but I thought there was a chance it had gone in the hole. As we drove up there was no ball on the green and some of the others thought it may have gone over the back. I walked up towards the hole and there was a ball mark a little over two feet from the hole and the ball was at the bottom of the cup. It was as much of a moment of disbelief as joy and awe. The other fact that made this hole-in-one even more unique is that this hole is a par 4 on the scorecard. I made sure to put the ball away in my bag as I went to the next hole which was a short par 3 where I hit a pitching wedge into a green-side tree and lost the new ball I was playing. To make the day even better there was another par 4 later in the round that was just over 250 yards and I put the ball on that green with my 3-wood and I made the eagle putt. We finished 15 under par and won the scramble. I don't know if I will ever make another hole-in-one but I don't see how I could top this one.
