The power of a positive attitude

The power of a positive attitude

My name is Dave Schoeneck Jr and i've been blessed to be part of an organization since the 70's called Wasatch Adaptive Sports. We help children / adults and veterans to snow ski, bike, fish, bowl, paddle board, ect and enjoy the outdoors.

Steve Young's Forever young foundation has supported WAS for 28 years. So when Steve holds his Mountain Challenge golf fundraiser each year, Larry Scott and I volunteer to drive celebrities and donors to and from the hotel and golf course.

Red Ledges Pro Jon Paupore offered to let Larry and me play the course with a caddie last Wednesday 8/19/15. The front 9 went very well for me with a chip in birdie, a couple of pars and two doubles. 43 for the front on that tough course was fun. The back 9 didn't start out so good. Double bogey 10 and triple bogey on both 11 and 12. So to shift my thinking after 8 over in 3 holes wasn't that hard as I looked around at the gorgeous mountains, blue sky, lush fairways that God has given us to enjoy. We had a cool canyon breeze and the golf course to ourselves.

As I stepped up the the tee box I was feeling grateful. 95 yards to an elevated green sounded perfect for my PW. My swing felt good and the ball was straight at the pin. We all thought that I would have a good chance at a birdie, but we couldn't see the hole with the mound on the front of the green.
Charlie our caddie walked onto the green first and said I don't see it, it could be in the hole. I walked right over to the hole and jumped for joy when I saw my ball.

To get my first hole in one on a Jack Nicklaus course made it even more special. After such a tough start to the back 9, I'm so happy that I've learned to let things go that I have no control of. Those previous three holes were done. I did have control of my next shot. The lessons I've learned in life, have served me well on the golf course. All glory goes to God :-)
