Han Solo

Han Solo

Playing as a single at twilight at Meadows of Mystic Lake in Prior Lake, MN. Tee-d off at 4:15pm on 10. Course was a bit backed up, so I didn't bother playing through the 3 some ahead of me. Just enjoying the early evening to myself, wife and kids were out of town, I wasn't in a hurry to do anything. Got to 17, 138 yard par three. Flag in a sinister location tucked back behind a bunker and just off a clump of trees. Smart play is to aim to the left of the pin and avoid the trouble. Naturally I went for it. The ball hit about 6-8 feet short and right of the pin, "boy that's gonna be close..." I thought. Before I could yell the traditional "get in the hole!", it disappeared into the cup. My sudden glee turned to terror! I was playing alone, Han Solo, and no one saw it go in! I started screaming.."Hey! Hey! Hey!" and miraculously the threesome whom I thought had disappeared happen to watch the ball hit and go in. They yelled back "hole in one!". Such a sense of relief! I had witnesses! I may have been Han Solo no one around to help me celebrate, but after 20 years of golfing I'll take it! I feel like wearing a great big button on my shirt, "I hit a hole in one, ask me about it!". Quite a thrill! Thanks Titleist for supplying the ball and the 8 iron! Jackson Maines
