Consecutive Rounds

Consecutive Rounds

On August 17th, I was running late and caught up to my Wednesday buddies on the second hole at Brookstone CC in Acworth, GA. They were putting on the downhill 177-yard par 3. They replaced the pin and waved me on, jokingly gathering closely around the hole as if to sure I wouldn’t hit them. I showed them, as I hit the pin on the second bounce, with my ball cong to rest an inch from the hole. The gave me a mock round of applause. The following week on the same hole, my 7-iron felt good off the club face, with that nice “compressed” sound and high trajectory. I thought it might be a tad long, but the morning sun and shadows prevented us from seeing where the ball wound up. As we crossed the green, we went into the “is it... could it be?” then found it nestled in the bottom of the cup! I had had two aces many years before, both on special days: my birthday and The Fourth Of July, so I assumed that if I had another, it would probably be on Labor Day or my wedding anniversary. Two days later, as I stepped onto the second tee, with friendly needling like, “Betch can’t do it again!” Never one to back down from a challenge, with the hole now playing at 170, I launched my ProV1 off my 8-iron into the morning sky. Again, the Titleist sounded great off the club face and drew slightly toward the pin. Again, the sunlight and shadows made it difficult to see the ball on the green; well, actually, it wasn’t ON the green... it was IN the hole. All things considered, it was a pretty good forty-eight hours of golf, not to mention the $1550.00 I won in the Hole-In-One Club. My first purchase? Four dozen ProV1s.
