Over the Water

Over the Water

It all started on the last beautiful 60 degree day of the season on Sunday December 3rd, 2017. I was golfing with my father at the University of Illinois Orange Course. When we pulled up to hole #2, I said “this looks like a tough pin placement.” I took a picture of the hole right before I went to hit the ball because it is my favorite hole on the course. As I was getting set up to hit the ball, I said “I am not sure if I’m going for it.” However, when I lined up to hit the ball, my feet were pointing straight at the pin and I thought to myself why not just go for it. I used a pitching wedge 150 yards away and as I hit the ball, my father said “are you sure you aren’t going for it?” The ball was in the air and flying straight at the pin and it hit the green about 10 to 15 feet away from the pin. It rolled uphill slowly and dropped in the hole. I was shocked and just put my arms straight up in the air and looked around and thought to myself, did I actually just get a hole in one? Then we told these ladies on the green next to us and they said “are you going to buy us drinks?” Then we headed over the bridge to the green. I took some pictures to remember this moment. I told a worker at the golf course and he gave me a hole in one club chip and they said it would be in the paper. This was my first hole in one at age 23 and I have been golfing for about 5 years now. What an experience this was! Spencer
