Rick Nelson with Adam Scott

Posted: March 21, 2007

In the Titleist Tour Van, we can quickly make adjustments for players and then take it right onto the course. Adam has a 15° PT 906 prototype fairway wood that he asked to be bent 1/2° weaker to 15.5°. This kind of fine-tuning helps Adam get a specific yardage and trajectory. I like to walk the practice round with players to see how the clubs are working so after bending his 3-wood, I walked 9 holes with Adam, as did Butch Harmon. This is the best way to get feedback from the guys and watch the ball flight myself. This is the first week that Adam has a hybrid in his bag, a PT 585.H with 19° and an NV 85 shaft. Voke is also making a 248.06 wedge for Adam so I've included a photo of his work order sheet. Adam played his practice round today with Charley Hoffman and Cobra player, Geoff Ogilvy. Both guys are great fun and strong players. I've included a few other photos from the group. -- Rick Nelson

I'm a big fan of Scott and I'm loving his swing now and I love watching him on the tour. Keep it up mate, cheers.

This new site is awesome! Just 2 quick questions though: Does Scotty have a superstition? A #9 on the ball could be thought as a bit drastic these days! And also, what made Adam change to the 907D2 because apparently he was having trouble with it before. Thanks.

Odle

Hi, what shafts is Adam using in his woods? You say he has an NV in his hybrid, what happened to the V2? Also, will the 906F4 he plays ever become retail?

Odle

To answer Elliot, see the follow-up post on Adam's custom numbered Pro V1s. Also, Adam wasn't having trouble with his new 907D2 driver, he just needed time to work with it. He was very happy with his previous 905R driver, and, as we all know, it's tough sometimes to give up something we trust so much. Adam is playing a 9.5° 907D2 with a NV Blue By You 80-X shaft.

For Ben, please see the comments here for info on the shafts in Adam's woods. Also, we currently offer the PT 906F2 as our fairway metal.

Is that a Proto ByYou shaft? They are really popular in Canada.

Odle

To answer outspokengolfer, yes, that is the Aldila VS Proto 80-X shaft, also know as the Proto ByYou.

Hi, what degree loft bounce and grind does Adam Scott use in his Vokeys? Great blog, thanks.

Odle

Ben:

Adam carries a pair of Spin Milled wedges. He has a SM56.10 that is bumped to 55° which gives him 9° of bounce. He also has a prototype SM60 with 5° of bounce. I hope this helps.

I love Adam Scott and I love the info I'm getting. I am buying a new set of irons this year and I would like to get the same as Scott. What does he use for irons and also I saw he was playing a custom #9 Pro V1. I was wondering if you could make a ball with the number 35 on the ball?

Hi, I want to get the VS Proto in 63g and a stiff flex in my 905R. Will this shaft help me with both distance and control?
