Rick Nelson with Adam Scott

Posted: March 21, 2007

In the Titleist Tour Van, we can quickly make adjustments for players and then take it right onto the course. Adam has a 15° PT 906 prototype fairway wood that he asked to be bent 1/2° weaker to 15.5°. This kind of fine-tuning helps Adam get a specific yardage and trajectory. I like to walk the practice round with players to see how the clubs are working so after bending his 3-wood, I walked 9 holes with Adam, as did Butch Harmon. This is the best way to get feedback from the guys and watch the ball flight myself. This is the first week that Adam has a hybrid in his bag, a PT 585.H with 19° and an NV 85 shaft. Voke is also making a 248.06 wedge for Adam so I've included a photo of his work order sheet. Adam played his practice round today with Charley Hoffman and Cobra player, Geoff Ogilvy. Both guys are great fun and strong players. I've included a few other photos from the group. -- Rick Nelson

Is there any chance of getting the T-grind SM into production or is it a Tour-only grind?

Jerry

Adam Scott plays Titleist 695MB irons with TrueTemper Dynamic Gold steel shafts. We recommend utilizing an Authorized Titleist FittingWorks Partner to ensure that your new Titleist golf clubs have the correct specifications for your game.

Regarding the golf balls, the play numbers can be customized, however, there is a considerable upcharge for those other than the customary 1-8. They would have to be ordered and priced through an authorized Titleist golf shop. Thanks for your interest in Titleist.

We recommend that you visit an Authorized Titleist FittingWorks Partner to help you determine the proper shaft for your 905R driver. That said, the VS Proto 65 is available for custom order in a new 905R, or you can have your current driver reshafted with this shaft through our repair department.

I am a left-handed player and I am trying to find woods that fit me correctly. Whenever I try to get fit somewhere they can never fit me correctly because there typically aren't enough left-handed clubs for me to hit. If you could please give me some ideas on where best to get fit, it would be extremely helpful. Thanks.

Jerry

We recommend phoning ahead to an Authorized Titleist FittingWorks Partner in your area to determine the selection of left-handed demo clubs available for a fitting session. In the meantime, your request has been forwarded to our internal FittingWorks department for follow-up. Thanks.

I am planning on buying a Vokey Spin Milled wedge that has 60° loft with 8° bounce. Do you think 8° bounce is the right choice so that I could use this as my main wedge out of the sand?

Jerry

We recommend visiting an Authorized Titleist FittingWorks Partner to help you determine the correct wedges to put into play.

I have a question about changing the lofts on wedges and decided to come to the source instead of getting bad info from somewhere else. I am looking for a Vokey Oil Can 55° and SM59° setup. What lofts do you recommend I start with? Is it better to bend the originals weak or strong? Or is the bounce the main concern? Thanks for your time.

Jerry

As always, we recommend visiting an Authorized Titleist FittingWorks Partner to help you determine the correct specs for your new wedges. Something to keep in mind when changing the loft on a wedge is that the bounce will also change in direct proportion. For example, bending a 56° wedge with 10° bounce to 55° will decrease the bounce to 9°. Vokey Design wedges ordered through an Authorized Titleist Golf Shop can have their lofts customized 1° either way with the Tour Chrome finish, or 2° either way with the Oil Can finish.
