New Vokey Wedge for Daisuke Maruyama

Posted: May 8, 2007

Here's a shot of the Spin Milled TVD 60° I made up for Daisuke Maruyama this week. He was playing a standard Vokey Design 260.08 pretty much all season, but saw another player's TVD model and asked if he could try one last week at the Wachovia Championship. Unfortunately, I only had a few 60° heads on hand and had already used them to build wedges for Brad Faxon, Zach Johnson and another player. Instead, I made him up a 58° TVD and bent it to 59°. I made him his 60° and left it in his locker as soon as I got the new heads in on Monday. I just saw him on the range and he said he loves it. There's not a lot of switching of wedges this week and I think a lot of it has to do with the course conditions being very similar to what the players saw at Quail Hollow last week. -- Bob Vokey

Arron Oberholser works with Scotty at THE PLAYERS

Posted: May 7, 2007

Arron Oberholser spent some time in the Tour Van today with Scotty Cameron. Arron has adjusted his set-up to where his arms are more relaxed and less mechanical, and wanted to try a little longer length. He asked Scotty to make a couple Circa 62 No. 6 putters at 36", an inch longer than he normally plays, and 2° flat. Arron put the Circa 62 No. 6 with the Charcoal Mist finish in his bag for the first time at the EDS Byron Nelson Championship. According to Arron, the B-Back design of the No. 6 model looks better to his eye, and he loves the sound which he translates into better feel. One of the new putters is made of German Stainless Steel (GSS) with a chrome finish, while the other is Carbon Steel with a gun-blued Tour Black finish. Arron plans to work with the putters during the week to determine which he'll use as his gamer at THE PLAYERS. -- Joe Gomes

Bill and Jay Haas work at THE PLAYERS

Posted: May 7, 2007

With no tournament scheduled for the Champions Tour this week, Bill Haas had his dad Jay travel to TPC Sawgrass to work with him in preparation for THE PLAYERS. Bill has struggled of late, missing his last five cuts on the PGA Tour. After observing Bill on the driving range and course, Jay had Bill move his hands forward slightly at address, which can be seen in the images below. Let's hope that some advice from the PGA Tour's all-time leader in cuts made helps get Bill back on track! -- Steve Mata

What's in the Bag: Davis Love III

Posted: May 1, 2007

We caught up with Titleist ambassador Davis Love III as he began preparing for this week's Wachovia Championship and next week's The Players. The Wachovia Championship is conducted in Charlotte, North Carolina, near where Davis went to college at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Davis won the last PGA Tour event held in North Carolina, the 2006 Chrysler Classic of Greensboro, and he's sure to have a lot of crowd support again this week. Davis is also a two-time winner of The Players (1992 & 2003), so he's pretty excited to compete in both events over the next couple of weeks. Following is a complete listing of the Titleist equipment Davis will trust as he takes on the top players in the world at Wachovia and The Players.
