Titleist Brand Ambassador Marc Turnesa (Pro V1x, 909D2 driver, 906F2 3-wood, ZM irons, Vokey Design sand wedge, Spin Milled lob wedge, Scotty Cameron Fastback putter) posted a 25-under 263 to win his first career PGA TOUR title at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.  Turnesa opened the tournament with a 10-under 62 and closed with a 4-under 68 en route to four consecutive rounds in the 60s. Three players tied for third, including Pro V1x loyalists Michael Allen and John Mallinger.

Turnesa topped a leaderboard that included eight Titleist golf ball loyalists among the top 10 finishers, including fellow Brand Ambassadors Davis Love III (T6/Pro V1x, 909D3 driver, 906F3 3- and 5-woods, 680 irons, Vokey Design pitching, sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron Newport putter) and Tom Pernice, Jr. (T8/Pro V1x, 909D3 driver, 909F2 3-wood, 909H hybrids, AP2 irons, Vokey design pitching wedge, Spin Milled sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron Futura putter).

Statistically, Turnesa was 4th in Putts Per Greens in Regulation (1.610) and T5 in Putts Per Round (27.5) with the new Scotty Cameron Fastback putter. He was also T11 in Greens in Regulation (81.9%) and averaged 303.1 yards per drive with his new Titleist 909D2 driver.

Titleist was the most played golf ball at the event with 90 players, compared to 16 for the nearest competitor. Titleist was also the top choice in iron sets (36), wedges (128) and putters (55). Titleist was second in drivers (39) and fairway metals (47).

Turnesa's win marks the 27th for Titleist golf ball players on the 2008 PGA TOUR, more than twice the nearest competitor with 11. He is also the second straight Titleist Brand Ambassador to win a PGA TOUR event following Zach Johnson's victory at the Valero Texas Open last week.

Turnesa's win marks the fourth PGA TOUR win with a new 909 driver in the last 13 weeks. He joins Zach Johnson (last week's Valero Texas Open), Parker McLachlin (Reno-Tahoe) and Chez Reavie (Canadian Open).

Congrats to Marc for his first of many wins.  Congrats to Scotty Cameron for his 22 PGA Tour win, so far!

Did Marc play the Voodoo shaft in his driver?  Aldila posted a press release saying he was playing the Voodoo but the player page shows ProLaunch.  Maybe he changed right before the tournament.

Thanks for the heads up, Jack.  Our information for Marc as displayed on his player page was out of date.  Marc has been playing the Aldila VooDoo XVS7 in his 909D2. Please accept our apologies for the misinformation.

What shaft flex is Marc using in his Titleist driver and irons?

Robert Sellman

Marc uses X flex shafts.

Congrats to Marc for his first win on the PGA Tour.
