With a birdie putt on his last hole of the day, Jason Gore carded a 5 under 65 and claimed the solo lead in the first round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill. After the round Jason, a Pro V1x loyalist, spoke about his new instructor, the swing changes he's making, and what was working well during the round. However, the story that absolutely captivated everyone in the interview room was the one about the day young Jason Gore met Mr. Arnold Palmer for the first time. Jason was gracious enough to retell the story in his interview below, with InsidetheRopes.com's Tom Auclair.

On March 23rd the Inaugural Military Muster charity golf tournament was held at Fox Hollow Golf Club in Trinity, Florida. The tournament, which was founded by Army veteran Donny Alston, benefitted Chapter 78 (in New Port Richey, FL) of Disabled American Veterans, an organization whose mission is to build better lives for disabled veterans and their families. The tournament also benefitted Operation Homefront, which provides emergency assistance and morale to active duty troops and their families, as well as to wounded soldiers upon their return back home. Alston, who lost his left leg in a training mission, now plays golf with a prosthetic leg that sports the Titleist script.

Titleist Brand Ambassador Mark O'Meara recently visited the Oceanside Test Facility on his way to the Toshiba Classic in nearby Newport Beach, and left with three new 909 metals. The long game overhaul agreed with Mark, who recorded his fifth career runner-up finish on the Champions Tour. Mark commented on his fitting during his media session following Saturday's round at Newport Beach Country Club.
"On Tuesday this week I went to the Titleist Test Center, the TPI down in Oceanside, to work with Larry Bobka, who kind of is their guru down there that fits all the players. I hadn't been on the launch monitor for awhile. I hit some drives with my driver, and they said, 'Wait a minute.' I'm like, 'What?' He's like, 'Well, your spin rate is way off. It's too high.' I was like, 'What do you mean?' He said, 'Your ball is kind of going out there like somebody could catch it, you know. It doesn't have any go on it.'"
Mark continues, "Larry said, 'Just give me 45 minutes and let me try a couple shafts and a couple different drivers.' So he put like two or three drivers in my hand, and I think the second or third driver he put in my hand, the shaft and the head, and all of a sudden the spin rate was right and the ball was going. He said, 'Okay, this is the club you need to be playing with.' I was like, 'Really?' And he said, 'Oh, yeah.' So sure enough, he built me a new driver and a new 3-wood and a new hybrid, and those are the three clubs that are in my bag. The ball is getting out there now for a change, so it's a little more fun."
Mark was fit into the following clubs during his session:909D3 (9.5°) - Mitsubishi Diamana White Board 63X909F3 (15°) - Mitsubishi Diamana White Board 73X909H (17°) - Fujikura Speeder 904HB-X

Geoff Ogilvy
WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship winner Geoff Ogilvy carded an eagle, 10 birdies and no bogeys for the 33 holes in which he played in the 4-and-3 final. In fact, he didn't have a bogey over his final 57 holes. Alot of the credit was directed to his putting prowess, which he accomplished with a Scotty Cameron by Titleist Newport putter. Check out the feature article with Geoff describing his putter posted by David Dusek on golf.com
