Titleist.com is on-site at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club in Grand Blanc, Michigan for the 51st edition of the Buick Open, a tournament that dates back to 1958. The Titleist Tour Van has been buzzing with even more activity than usual, as this is the first week that it is carrying the next generation AP1, AP2, CB and MB irons that are scheduled to be introduced to the marketplace this fall.
Several players (Greg Chalmers, Derek Fathauer, Bill Haas, Stephen Leaney, Marc Leishman, Darron Stiles, Kevin Na) worked with the new irons on the range for the first time, while others, including Tom Pernice, Jr. (New AP2), Colt Knost (New CB) and Johnson Wagner (New CB) played a practice round with them and decided to put them in the bag this week.
Longtime Titleist Brand Ambassador Brad Faxon, who is also in the field this week, was actually the first to play the New AP2 irons in competition two weeks ago, when he posted his best finish of the year at the U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee. A set of the New AP1 irons were also played in competition for the first time in Milwaukee, and will also be in that player's bag this week in Michigan.
Improvements to the new AP2 irons have resulted in better feel as well as improved shot control and ground contact. The new AP1 irons offer better feel, more forgiveness, and an improved shape, particularly in the short irons. Look for more sets to be put into play in the coming weeks, and be sure to check back here and on Titleist.com for the latest information on all Titleist products.
For now, be sure to check out the slide show for more information from the Buick Open.
A lot of activity is taking place this week in the Titleist Tour Van.

New irons look fantastic. I've been gaming the Cobra FP irons for a few years and have been eager to try the AP1 or AP2s. I think that time has come when these new ones hit the shelves.

Great to see some shots of the new irons. Can you tell us the differences between these and the current AP irons?

Love the new irons just wondering when do you think they will be available in the UK?
Wish I was as awesome to get those clubs for free.

It is the 51st Buick Open, not 50.

Thanks, we've made the edit. We got 50th from the fact sheet handed out in the media center at the event.
Nick-
Complete details on all of the new irons will be available on Titleist.com early this fall.
Adam-
The new irons will be available in all markets later in 2009.
I'll take the new AP2s in the 3 thru P, 2° flat, Rifle Flighted 6.0s, if you need a field test. I already have the current AP2s and I'll be hard pressed to change since I hit these so good! Just offering up my loyal services, I'm a longtime Titleist ambassador to say the least.

When will the new CB irons be available, and will there be any new irons to replace the ZM irons next year?
Do the new Titleist irons conform to the USGA's new groove requirements? Or do they meet the current requirements--thus providing the same or better grip on the green from balls coming in from the rough? As opposed to less zip which golfers expect with the new groove rules coming in 2010.

Wondering if there are any spec differences between the 909D2 8.5° and 9.5°, outside the obvious loft. Is there a difference in the face angle? Thanks.
