Titleist Brand Ambassador Søren Hansen made a brief detour as he traveled from his home in Monaco to this week's World Golf Championships - Bridgestone Invitational. Søren and Titleist Tour Leadership representative for the PGA European Tour Mattias Jelver paid a visit to Acushnet Company's World Headquarters in Fairhaven, Mass. In addition to saying hello and spreading some goodwill among Titleist and FootJoy employees, Søren and Mattias booked an appointment to visit the Acushnet Company Testing Facility where a set each of Titleist's new MB and CB irons, built to Søren's specifications, awaited him. Click the photo gallery below for an insider's look at Søren's fitting and the new MB and CB irons.
Søren Hansen tests the new MB and CB irons
Søren has played a set of 670 irons for many years and has been reluctant to switch out of the traditional blades. Søren is a wonderful iron player and he relies greatly on his ability to properly flight and work his iron shots. The feel and feedback that the muscle back 670 irons have provided is also something that Søren can't sacrifice. Mattias, however, having seen prototypes of the new MB and CB irons, knew that the time was right to get Søren back on the proving grounds.!--more-->
Several players in the U.S. have already put the new irons in the bag, including Titleist Brand Ambassador Greg Chalmers, who used a full set of CB irons en route to his best performance of the season, a runner-up finish at last week's Buick Open. At the Acushnet Test Facility, Søren compared the new irons to his own and against one another, utilizing a Trackman Launch Monitor and the expertise of Acushnet U.S. Player Research representatives Karen Gray, Jeff Beyers, Alex Stimpson and James Kroeger.
At the end of his session, Søren fit beautifully into the new irons, but he was left with two difficult decisions. The first dilemma was whether to mix 3- and 4- CB irons into his set, or 3-, 4- and 5- (he hit the MB 5-iron nearly identically to the CB 5-iron, but the CB moved through the turf a little easier for him). The second (and more difficult) question in Søren's mind was whether to put the new irons straight in the bag for the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational (Mattias has promised us an update from Akron).

Complete product details, including loft specifications, will be available on Titleist.com early this fall. We can say now, though, that you shouldn't expect a huge deviation from current iron specifications.
What flexes do Adam and Davis have in their PW, SW, and LW?

Has either player switched to any of the new irons for the Bridgestone this week?
I have the S400 DG Tour issue in my 755s and they are great. I can NOT WAIT to get my CB irons and a new set of S400 DG Tour issue shafts. Titleist have really out done themselves this time! Everyone is raving about how beautiful these are. The MB irons are sweet, too. Is there a release date yet? Even a guess? The internet sites are telling us October 31. Are there any other new clubs coming this year? How about a Hybrid/FW? Thank you Titleist for all you've done and are going to do for the game.

Adam has an X100 in his PW and S400 in his SW and LW. Davis has X100 in all three.
Mark-
Davis had a set of the new MBs in the bag for his practice round today, as evidenced by this picture he posted via Twitter:

Has Adam Scott switched to using one of the new irons yet? If so, which ones has he chosen to put in his bag? I love the look of the new irons! Great job!
Also will the new MB irons be available in left-handed? Thanks!

Adam wrote that he has put the new MB irons in the bag for the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational this week. See the following post for an update:

All four of the new Titleist iron models will be available for left-handed golfers.
Can you please let us know when these clubs will be available for a Factory Fitting at the Acushnet Test Facility in Oceanside, California?
Thanks!

What about Davis and Adam's grip size? Do they use standard or do they build them up to take out the taper?

Guys are putting these in the bag very quickly. I have a question about the Tour-issued irons. Is there a difference from the Tour-issued irons and what is sold in golf shops? Or is it true that the Tour-issued irons are just hand-picked heads to make sure the weight of each head is as close to the same as possible? Hopefully you can answer this, it will really help with a lot of myths about Tour-issued equipment.

Titleist product sold in golf shops is the same product played on Tour. Our players on Tour do have access to our Tour Department club builders who build to exacting tolerances and are able to provide other custom options not generally available to our consumers.
Matt-
The new irons should be available for our Tour Fitting program at Oceanside in October. For more information on this program, please call 1-888-262-7202.
