The FedEx Cup Playoffs kick off tomorrow as play commences at The Barclays. Playing host for the first time is the beautiful Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, NJ. The players are getting their first looks at this beautiful, links-style course which offers some amazing views of the New York City skyline. Many players are also getting their first look at Titleist's new AP1, AP2, CB and MB irons, which will be available to consumers this fall. The initial feedback has been extremely positive, as evidenced by the host of players who will be trusting the new irons under the heat of playoff competition. Click on the photo gallery below to see what several Titleist Brand Ambassadors are putting in the bag.

Two questions.....
1) are Watney and Haas' drivers bent closed to increase loft or is the hosel bent to add loft another way?
2) why does Nick play a 21* hybrid and a 21* AP2 3-iron? This is intriguing...are his irons bent weak?
As always keep up the great work. We love the tour updates!!!

Cool stuff and thanks for the scoop! I'm having a hard time deciding which new set to play: AP2 or CB/MB. Maybe I should get both!
I would love to know how the Tour Van bends those drivers. Maybe we can see a video or something!

Hoffman's bag is looking good. The new MBs are sweet. So tempting.

Hi,
Slightly off topic I know, but are there any plans in the near future for the Vokey Wedge Works wedges to be shipped to addresses other than the US? I live in the UK and would LOVE to get another Vokey wedge, this time with my name stamped on it.
Thanks!

Dylan-
Yes, there are plans to offer the wedges outside of the US, but we need to work out some more details. Keep posted to Vokey.com for more.

Dano-
Two answers:
1. Only Nick's driver is bent, there was a typo in the original post that has been corrected. And yes, when the metals are bent to add loft, this has the effect of also closing the face.
2. Nick's irons are bent 1° weak.

The AP1s have a semi underslug hosel. What does that mean and what is the benefits?

Just curious when there will be public info on the new irons, wedges and putters on the titleist, vokey, and scotty cameron websites. Thanks

i have one question....
i read somewhere that the older first generation of AP2 irons are already in compliance with the new groove rule that is taking effect at the beginning of this coming year.
i was just wondering if this is true or if there are any sets of the AP2 irons that will not comply with the new groove rule?
Titleist Golf Clubs wrote on October 20, 2009 at 12:10PM
Erin-
Yes, the original AP2 irons, as well as most prior generation Titleist irons, will conform to the new groove regulations that are being adopted as a condition of competition on the professional tours in 2010.
