When the Golf Channel crew arrived at picturesque Liberty National on Monday morning, they inherited a 900 square foot tent, a striking view of the Manhattan skyline and a boatload of work to do. This week Golf Channel will be broadcasting their Golf Central, Presented by Titleist program live from the PGA Tour’s first play-off event, The Barclays.

Between 8:30 A.M. Monday and noon on Tuesday, a crew of two dozen hauled tons of equipment, ran miles of cables, installed 13 lights, positioned three cameras, did countless checks, and made all the adjustments necessary to broadcast one live television show from Studio G, a portable set that was built especially for road shows like this. The Golf Central producer and director are on sight as well, working out of production trucks that are situated 50 feet below and 400 yards away from the assembled set. Each night this week at 6:00 P.M., they will feed the program live from these production trucks to the Golf Channel control room in Orlando, from where the show will be broadcast to more than 120 million homes worldwide. Titleist.com was invited to tour the Studio G set on Tuesday morning, just as the crew were fine tuning their set-up.
