Update from Adam Scott – Back on the Sunshine Coast

Posted: November 26, 2009

Hello Everybody. I'm on the Sunshine Coast now back in Australia and enjoying some time in the sun. I got back from Dubai on Tuesday and drove up to the coast to take a few days of rest. I am very pleased with how my game is shaping up and feel like my work is starting to pay off. I'm working aggressively on my putting and starting to gain the confidence I need in that area.

Adam Scott

Adam lines up a putt at the Dubai Championship.

What a week for Lee Westwood, I don't think he could go any lower! Congratulations Lee, definitely deserving of Europe's best player of the year. I always enjoy Dubai and there are a lot of things to do.

I'm looking forward to getting over to Sydney next week. On Monday I have a couple of charitable events I'll be attending. The first one is The Trust Company Charity Golf Day helping to raise funds for the CorriLee Foundation out at The Lakes Golf Club and then I'll be heading over to the Westpac Golf Day at Twin Creeks Golf Club in the afternoon. I'll get out to the golf course (NSW) for a practice round on Tuesday. It's been awhile since I've played the course. It is one of the top 50 courses in the world and the views are spectacular right on the Pacific Ocean so I can't wait to tee it up. I gotta run but more from Sydney next week! -Adam

Zach Johnson Closes PGA Tour Season with New AP Irons

Posted: November 18, 2009

Titleist Brand Ambassador Zach Johnson closed out his 2009 PGA Tour season with a T9 finish at the Children's Miracle Network Classic in Florida. The finish was his ninth top ten of the season, including wins at the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Valero Texas Open. The Disney event was Zach's first with a new set of Titleist irons that includes the new AP1 4-iron as well as new AP2 5 through 9-irons.

Prior to the Disney event, Chris Tuten from the Titleist Leadership Team met with Zach and other members of Zach's team to review his 2009 performance. One area of Zach's game they felt could improve is his ball-striking from 175-200 yards. Zach's average ball speed (for PGA Tour standards) and shallow attack angle produce a 4-iron trajectory that is too low for accurate shots to firm greens. Chris suggested that Zach try the new AP1 4-iron to create a trajectory that better matches his 909F2 fairways, 909H hybrid, and new AP2 mid and short irons. The thin face, dual cavity design of the AP1 combines with a tungsten nickel sole bar to push the CG low and promote a high and lively ball flight. The new AP1 4-iron allows Zach to hit the "trajectory window" he prefers and produces the high ball flight required to hit it closer on long shots to firm greens. Importantly, he can still control the ball flight with this club for shots requiring a lower trajectory.

Zach commented, "I felt that 2009 was a very good season for me. But there is always room for improvement, and the changes I've made with my Titleist AP irons have me really excited to get going in 2010."

Watch for Zach during the Challenge Season at the Chevron World Challenge (December 3-6) and The Shark Shootout (December 11-13). New Titleist AP irons are now available in golf shops. Sets can be mixed (combination of different models) when ordering through Titleist Custom. Please see your preferred Titleist Golf Shop for more details.

What's in Zach's Bag:
Driver: 909D2 (8.5°) - Mitsubishi Diamana Blue 73
Fairways: 909F2 (13.5°) - Mitsubishi Diamana White 73; 909F2 (18.5°) - Fujikura ZCOM Pro95
Hybrid: 909H (21°) - Fujikura Speeder 904HB
Irons: AP1 (4), AP2 (5-9) - Dynamic Gold X100 (soft-stepped)
Wedges: Vokey Design Spin Milled C-C (48-06, 54-12), Spin Milled 60-V - Dynamic Gold

Update from Adam Scott – Dubai World Championship

Posted: November 18, 2009

Hello Everybody, I'm in Dubai, just about to head out to the course to get a practice round in today. The course we are playing on this week is a brand new course designed by Greg Norman. I am looking forward to checking it out...it's always fun to play on new courses.

Adam Scott

Adam Scott in action at the JBWere Australian Masters.

I finished well at the JBWere Australian Masters last week. I'm feeling more confident about my game and things are shaping up nicely for the remainder of my 2009 schedule. It's hard to believe we're at the end of the year. I have a lot of golf left and looking forward to the next few weeks. The crowds and atmosphere last week were amazing. I know we have one guy to thank for all that and he ended up winning the tournament! It definitely gave our sport in Australia the boost it needs and hoping the momentum carries throughout the rest of the Summer down here. It's been a long time since I've seen those types of crowds in Australia. When I walked to the first tee on Thursday it reminded me a lot of an Open Championship. It was great to be a part of it and even better for our sport. I just wanted to remind anyone that is interested in the Adam Scott Griffith University Scholarship to be sure and get your application in by November 27th. To download the application and for more information please visit the foundation section of my website, www.adamscott.com.au. This week proves to be an exciting 4 days. It's the top 60 golfers on the European Tour's Order of Merit. 17 countries are represented and a lot of talent! Looking forward to teeing it up in the morning...let the race begin!

Until next time, take care. -Adam

Streelman Secures Inaugural Kodak Challenge

Posted: November 18, 2009

Titleist golf ball loyalist Kevin Streelman captured the inaugural Kodak Challenge and the $1 million prize that accompanies it. Streelman clinched the contest when he birdied the designated 485-yard par 4 17th hole at Disney's Magnolia Course during the Children's Miracle Network Classic.

There were 30 designated Kodak Challenge holes throughout the 2009 PGA TOUR season. To be eligible to win the $1 million, PGA TOUR professionals had to play and post their best score on at least 18 of the 30 Kodak Challenge holes. The lowest score over a player's best 18 holes earned the season-ending $1 million prize.

Butch Harmon Golf Academy – Dubai

Posted: November 17, 2009

In the build up to the season ending Dubai World Championship, the Titleist European Tour team had the privilege of spending some time at the Butch Harmon Golf Academy at Dubai Sport City. Butch Harmon, as most of you know, is one of the top coaches in the game of golf and has a long-standing relationship with Titleist.

Click here to view the slideshow

The academy in Dubai is run by Claude Harmon III, son of Butch, who works with some of the leading players in world golf. The academy opened earlier this year and has already had plenty of vistors including the likes of Adam Scott, Lee Westwood and Chris Wood. The facility boasts magnificent short game areas, a pristine long game area, the latest in technological teaching aids and also a fitness and biomechanics studio. It really is a phenomenal set-up and it's no surprise that some of the world's best players choose to practice at this facility. The academy is likely to become increasingly popular with players looking to work on their game during the off-season or during breaks from tournament play. On the day we visited the academy, Ladies European Tour player Marianne Skarpnord was taking advantage of the facilities and the glorious Dubai sunshine to work hard on her game. The Titleist Team had the opportunity to take a tour of the facility and chat with Claude and his team about the work that they do. They have put together a world class facility where players of all abilities can come and work on their games. The set-up is state-of-the-art and, coupled with elite-level coaching, the Butch Harmon Golf Academy can rightly claim to be one of the very best facilities on the planet. For more information on the Butch Harmon Golf Academy please click here. We would like to thank Claude and his team for making us so welcome and showing us around the academy. Rickie Fowler Off to a Fast Start at the Children's Miracle Network Classic

Posted: November 13, 2009

A washout at the PGA Tour Viking Classic and an extra week off did not slow down 20-year old Rickie Fowler one bit. The Titleist Brand Ambassador fired an opening round 66 at the Children's Miracle Network Classic, birdieing five of the final six holes to post an incoming 31. Fowler, who turns 21 on December 13th, has now shot in the 60s in his first nine rounds as a professional on the PGA TOUR. R_Fowler_Range_1

The big-hitting Fowler was 4th in driving distance in his last event two weeks ago at the Frys.com Open, but it was a chip-in on the 18th yesterday that capped his stellar first round. Fowler credits his long time coach with teaching him the technique that is now a real strength in his game. "I worked on a lot of short game, putting and chipping, with my coach Barry McDonald back home at the driving range I grew up at," said Fowler. "I started working with him when I was seven years old, and then through middle school is when I really got the technique down. I maintained that technique and learned to hit different shots, but that was really what I worked on the most and it's definitely helped out now." Rickie sat down with the Golf Channel to recap both his first round performance and the blistering start to his professional career. Click here to watch the video.
