Titleist Brand Ambassador Adam Scott has won his first Australian professional title by claiming the Australian Open by five shots after a tense final round at the New South Wales Golf Club Sunday. The victory is Adam's first on any tour since the EDS Byron Nelson Championship in April 2008 and follows a PGA Tour season that saw him struggle to only nine made cuts in 19 tournaments and one top-10 finish.
"I always thought I'd get my chance," Scott said. "It's so bizarre, this game, that off the back of such a bad year I finally played good enough to win down here.
"I've worked really hard even though I've played terrible all year. But it pays off. You've got to stick with it."
Having led by as many as seven shots after 12 holes, Adam opened the door with bogeys at the 13th, 14th and 16th holes to lead by just three strokes with two to play. But the 29-year-old held his nerve with a regulation par-three at the 17th before finishing in style with a birdie at the closing hole to get to even-par for the day and seal his first professional victory on home soil. He finished the championship at 15-under 273.
"This is very, very special to me to win here," Scott said. "This is going to be very sweet and something I will treasure for the rest of my career."

I never had any doubts that Adam would win again. He never got too down on himself and continued to have confidence in his ability. Here's to an even better 2010!
