After rallying late in Friday's second round just to make the cut, Titleist Brand Ambassador Rory Mcllroy played nearly flawless golf over the weekend to win the Quail Hollow Championship for his first career PGA Tour victory. Just days shy of his 21st birthday, Rory went 5-under over the final five holes on Sunday to close with a course record 10-under 62, topping the nearest competitor by four shots. He capped his magical round by converting a 40-foot putt on the final hole to finish at 15-under 273.
Rory becomes the first player since 2006 to make the cut on the number and then proceed to win the same PGA Tour event. Sitting at two over the cut line on Friday with three holes to play, Rory made an eagle on his 16th hole to secure his spot in the weekend field. His 10-under par 62 final round performance is the lowest final round for a winner on Tour this year, a mark previously set by fellow Titleist Brand Ambassador Bill Haas, who shot a final round 64 en route to his victory at the Bob Hope Classic.
Titleist Brand Ambassador Rory McIlroy captured his firstPGA Tour victory this weekend at Quail Hollow.

CONGRATS RORY!!!!!Can rory Mcilroy's club for this week be verified. I know he plays the MB iron but here it says CB, also can the AP2's in his 3-4 be verified. Just a curious fan.
Thanks

Scott-
The CB was a typo...sorry for the confusion. Rory does play MB 5-9 irons. He also switched to the AP2 3 and 4 irons before the Masters Tournament (from the MB) as they provide him with a more playable trajectory in order to stop shots on firm greens.

The swing Rory put on that fairway shot at 15 late on Sunday, presumably with a Titleist MB 5-iron, is simply the silkiest, most picture-perfect golf swing I've ever seen in more than 40 years of watching televised golf. That's one for the archives--and should be a staple of your instructional videos for years to come.
Its been a very a good year for Titleist players--and we're still a long way from the FedEx...congratulations.

Congrats Rory! Also, don't forget about the top 10 finished for Titleist players Brendon de Jonge, Ricky Fowler, Bo Van Pelt and Matt Jones.

I was wondering about Rorys putter he used to win Quail Hollow? It looked like a center shafted Fastback 1. Can you elaborate?

Awesome Rory. Great to see you finally have a win under your belt. Having what I consider being in the top 2/3 swings in the world that's fantastic. NOW onto the majors!!! I think Augusta is best suited for him, but I want to see a major before next year. Bring on pebble.

Just reading a publication that showed Rory as using AP1s, is that a mistake or did he put them in play?
