Video: Inside Bo Van Pelt's Titleist Bag at The Barclays

Posted: August 26, 2010

Titleist Brand Ambassador Bo Van Pelt, one of the most consistent players this season on the PGA Tour, checked in with Team Titleist at The Barclays to talk about his Titleist equipment and his recent form.

Following his switch to Titleist equipment at the beginning of the season, Van Pelt has made 19 of 22 cuts and worked his way to 42nd in the world rankings and No. 13 in the FedEx Cup points standings. He hasn't finished worse than 40th in his last 12 starts.

"It's been a great year so far," said Van Pelt. "And we're still working toward (the Tour Championship). It's within reach and we're going to do our best the next couple weeks."

Click on the video below for a closer look at Van Pelt's Titleist equipment:

Van Pelt also offered his thoughts on Ridgewood Country Club, which he first played at the 2008 Barclays.

Weekend Highlights: 1-2-3 Finish at Wyndham Championship and Three Worldwide Wins for Pro V1, Pro V1x Players

Posted: August 23, 2010

Pro V1x loyalist Arjun Atwal sank a 7-footer for par on the 18th hole at Sedgefield Country Club Sunday to win the Wyndham Championship and complete a week of impressive feats and firsts:

• The victory was Atwal's first on the PGA Tour, following multiple wins on the European, Nationwide and Asian tours. The win also earned Atwal, 37, a trip to Augusta National next April for his first Masters.

"I don't think it's sunk in yet, you know, seriously," said Atwal, who birdied two of his final five holes to move to the top of a tightly-packed leaderboard. "Obviously was a long time dream of mine to win out here but, you know, until it happens, you know, you just keep doubting yourself."

• Atwal was one of 104 players at Wyndham that trusted a Titleist golf ball, nearly six times the nearest competitor with 18. He made 24 birdies and just four bogeys on his way to a 20-under 260 total and one-shot victory over Pro V1 loyalist David Toms. Titleist Brand Ambassador Michael Sim (Pro V1x, Titleist 910D2 prototype driver, 909F2 fairway metal, 909H hybrid, AP2 irons, Vokey Design wedges, Scotty Cameron Newport Squareback putter) and Pro V1x loyalist John Mallinger both finished two shots back in third place.

Titleist was also first at the Wyndham Championship in Iron Sets (45), Sand, Lob and Approach Wedges (129) and Putters (76).

• To just get into the 156-player field at Wyndham, Atwal first had to advance through the tournament's Monday qualifier at Forest Oaks Country Club. Atwal's bogey-free 65 earned him one of four available spots in the event, and eventually led to him becoming the first Monday qualifier to win on Tour in 24 years.

• The Wyndham also marked the final week for players to secure spots in the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup Playoffs, which begin this week at The Barclays.

Pro V1 loyalist Scott Piercy closed in 2-under 68 to tie for eighth and jump 15 spots on the FedEx Cup points list from 140th to 125th, the final qualifying position.

"You know, big heart today. Lot of guts and big heart and just lucky to be there, you know," said Piercy, the only player in Greensboro to play his way in to the playoffs. "It's been a long year and hopefully this kind of will turn it around."

Titleist Brand Ambassador Michael Letzig started the week at No. 125, but shot four rounds in the 60s and finished tied for 18th at Wyndham to move safely into 118th.

Of the 125 players in the FedEx Cup Playoffs, 78 trust Titleist golf balls.

Around the other worldwide professional tours:

• Pro V1x loyalist James Kingston shot even-par 72  to win the Vodacom Origins of Golf by two shots for his 11th-career victory on the South African Sunshine Tour. Kingston was one of 50 players in the field that trusted a Titleist golf ball, more than two times the nearest competitor with 19.

• On the Canadian Tour, Pro V1 loyalist Kent Eger closed in 6-under 65 to win the Economical Insurance Groups Seaforth Country Classic by two shots for the second time in three years.

• Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball of choice at the LPGA's Safeway Classic with 115 players, more than seven times the nearest competitor with 15.

• At the European Tour's Czech Open, 86 players trusted Titleist golf balls, more than three times the nearest competitor with 24.

• At the Jeld-Wen Tradition, the Champions Tour's final major championship of the year, 45 players trusted Titleist golf balls, more than six times the nearest competitor with seven. Titleist was also first in Iron Sets (20), Sand, Lob and Approach Wedges (39) and Putters (16).

• At the Japan Tour's Kansai Open, 54 players trusted Titleist golf balls, compared to 42 for the nearest competitor. Titleist was also first in Sand, Lob and Approach Wedges (97).

Video: On the Range with Titleist Brand Ambassador Drew Weaver

Posted: August 20, 2010

It's a special week here in Greensboro, N.C., at the Wyndham Championship for Titleist Brand Ambassador Drew Weaver, the local favorite who played high school golf just 15 minutes down the road from Sedgefield Country Club.

"It's a nice commute this week," said Weaver, smiling.

Weaver, 23, graduated from High Point (N.C.) Central in 2005, then went to play golf at Virginia Tech. Two years later, he won the British Amateur and earned an invitation to the Masters.

Weaver said he's played Sedgefield "about 30-40 times" and feels very comfortable on the golf course.

He also has the support of perhaps the tournament's biggest gallery, which includes his mother, Cathy, who has been fighting breast cancer since November. On Friday, Weaver will be wearing a pink golf shirt and leading a "pink-out" to raise awareness of the disease. (You can read more about Weaver's efforts on The Roanoke Times' Web site.)

Weaver guided Team Titleist through his bag Wednesday on the range. Get the scoop on all of Weaver's Titleist equipment in the video below:

Titleist Brand Ambassador Webb Simpson will have quite the cheering section at this week's Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.

Simpson, a Raleigh, N.C., native and Wake Forest alum, told Team Titleist Wednesday afternoon on the range that he is expecting about 20 friends and family outside the ropes.

Webb also talked about the new Titleist 910 prototype driver that has recently gone into his bag. Hear what he has to say in the video below…

Slideshow: On the Range at the Wyndham Championship (And Kevin Harvick's Custom Vokey Wedges)

Posted: August 19, 2010

The PGA Tour's Wyndham Championship is one of the most pressure-packed weeks on the PGA Tour, as it represents the final chance for many players to qualify for the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

But NASCAR driver and new golfer Kevin Harvick may have been feeling the most jitters when he arrived at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., Tuesday to play in the tournament's pro-am to benefit his foundation.

"I was more nervous than I've ever been in a race car in my whole entire life," Harvick, just days removed from driving his #29 car to victory at the Carfax 400 at Michigan International Speedway, told News 14 Carolina after his round.

"I can promise you that."

One way to take some of the edge off? Brand new custom Vokey wedges, fresh from the TItleist Tour Van. Team Titleist was there to take pictures of Harvick's new toys (pictured below) and photographer Greg Moore, a loyal Team Titleist member, also sent in his great shots from the practice rounds at Sedgefield. (Thanks, Greg!)
