A buzz has emerged this week in the locker room and on the range at Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons, Ga., home of the PGA Tour's inaugural McGladrey Classic, thanks to the return of the plain white golf ball boxes. To tour players, that means only one thing: New product from the #1 ball in golf. And not just any new product, either. Meet the next generation Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls.
After many prototypes and months of successful R&D testing with PGA Tour players, the new Pro V1 and Pro V1x seeding process began in earnest on Monday as players arrived at Sea Island to find Titleist Golf Ball R&D fitting experts Fordie Pitts and Jeff Beyers armed with white boxes and ready to conduct on-course evaluations with many of the world's best golfers.
This is a critical step in the golf ball fitting process as it allows tour players to compare the new Pro V1 and Pro V1x to the golf ball they currently put in play. While walking the course with the players and observing them hit multiple shots with each of the golf balls, Pitts and Beyers are able to help fit the players with the golf ball best suited for their game. Team Titleist tagged along on Tuesday with Pitts and Beyers as they walked the fairways and greens with Titleist Brand Ambassadors Troy Matteson and Bo Van Pelt, and golf ball loyalists Charlie Wi and Dean Wilson, among others. There was a lot of great discussion between the players and our experts as the on-course session included in-depth reviews of the features and benefits as the players put the new golf balls through their paces.
Stay tuned for more information about the new Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls as the Fall Series continues on the PGA Tour, and the new product gets seeded on the professional tours around the world.

Just got my sleeve in the mail and will be testing them tomorrow! Can't wait! Is it sad that I was like a kid on Christmas day when I received the package?

Had the opportunity to test out some of the new balls this week. Really liked the way they performed and felt. Excited about the new product.

I was fortunate enough to try and test these balls for Titleist also, a few weeks back, out on the course, and Wow! I have the new grooves on my clubs, "condition of competition" and it seemed to me that this ball was created somehow to lessen the impact of less spin from the grooves, because it's performance off my clubs was outstanding. The difference between the old Pro V and this new "test" ball off the new grooves, was noticable right from the begining. The new balls stopped quicker on the greens, around the greens, even downwind, but at the same time didn't seem to spin as much off the driver. They felt at first harder than the old balls, on the green, but somehow generated more spin when they had too. I can't say enough on how impressed I was with it after several rounds on the course. Definately my ball of choice

The prototype Pro V1X feels great and dances nicely around the greens. This ball is amazing!

Tried the new ball as a tester and found it to be more durable while still maintaining that soft feel. Also, found the new ball to be about 10 yards longer than the current ProV1. Reminds me of when the orginals first came on the market. Way to go Titleist!

I have played these golf balls. The launch off the tee is great and increased distance helps everyone. Very soft around the green.

I just received my test sleve (yes it actually came in a plain white box with a brief note from the Titleist R&D team) with instructions regarding how they want me to test the balls. Shot by shot, with the ProV-1's that I normally use. I played Sunday with it and hit it about 30% of the time shot by shot...seemed to fly higher and I did not mark it up at all with my wedge or any man made object.... :)

I have played it and it is incredible - the feel is soft, durable and about 10 yards longer. I can't wait for it to come out on the market!!!!

Love the white box. Shot a +4 round with the test ball. Couldn't have been a coincidence.
