Titleist Brand Ambassador Jarrod Lyle made his first ace as a professional this weekend at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, hitting one of the most exciting shots possible on the PGA Tour. The setting: TPC Scottsdale's uproarious, party-packed par-3 16th, a hole bordered entirely by stadium seating and affectionately known as "The Coliseum," where Lyle stood over his tee ball Saturday afternoon with his Titleist MB 8-iron in his hands.Lyle's swing sent his Pro V1x golf ball high into the Arizona sky, drawing slightly. It landed on the front edge of the green, checked up slightly and bounced twice before rolling into the hole. Lyle raised both of his arms as the crowd of 20,000 or so provided us with yet another example of why it is known as the loudest hole in golf. (You can watch the shot and Lyle's reaction in the video below.)"Of all the holes to have (my first) hole-in-one in the world, this is probably the best one that you can think of," said Lyle.It was the eighth ace at No. 16 in tournament history, the first since 2002 – and the first of two hole-in-ones on the day, as Titleist Brand Ambassador Brendan Steele holed out at the 174-yard par-3 12th hole using a Titleist MB 7-iron.
There were almost three.
Also on the 16th, Pro V1x loyalist Billy Mayfair sent his New Pro V1x golf ball sailing toward the pin, on a line similar to Lyle's. It bounced twice toward the right center of the hole but lipped out to 12 feet, resulting in a thunderous sigh. The cheers came when Mayfair, a Phoenix native and Arizona State alum, made the putt for birdie. "I think (No. 16 has) definitely made a name for itself in world golf," said Lyle. "You know, it maybe gets a little loud at times, but it's 'Sixteen at Phoenix.' That's all there is to it."

The Waste Management Phoenix Open is underway at a chilly TPC Scottsdale, where the first two days in the desert have begun with an unfamiliar notice: Frost delay.
That is to say nothing about the temperature inside the ropes, however, considering the first-round 6-under 65s of Titleist Brand Ambassadors Bill Haas, Jason Bohn and Tom Gillis, who combined for 19 birdies and only one bogey Thursday afternoon.
We're happy to report that Mother Nature also plans on turning up the heat this weekend, which is good news for Team Titleist members Greg D. and Sean L., who won tickets to the event through Team Titleist and will be on hand as New Pro V1x loyalist Hunter Mahan (pictured above) tries to successfully defend his 2010 title.
In total, 91 players in this week's field are trusting Titleist golf balls for their success, more than eight times the nearest competitor with 11 and more than all other competitors combined.Titleist is also first in Iron Sets (40), Sand, Lob and Approach Wedges (114) and Putters (53).TV coverage of the tournament is as follows (all times ET):
