It's time to shine the Team Titleist Member Spotlight on another one our most active members. Today, we sit down with Tim Tiger, who is not only a Titleist loyalist but also sports a set of initials (T.T.) that we here at Team Titleist hold near and dear to our hearts.Tim's golf season never ends, thanks to both his passion for the game and the golf-friendly climate in Oklahoma, where he has been spending a lot of time on the range lately getting dialed in to his new Titleist 910D3 driver."I love to see the ball go exactly like I imagined it," Tim says. "Just knowing that all the practice paid off is priceless."All that hard work deserves a steak, don't you think?
Check out the Q&A below to find out why…
TEAM TITLEIST: How did you get started in golf? Who introduced you to the game? TIM: My dad introduced me to the game at age 12 and taught me the ins and outs. He is the reason I am an aggressive player. That's how he plays.
TT: How often are you thinking about your golf game and getting better? What are you currently working on?TIM: I pretty much think about golf 24/7. We have good weather in Oklahoma, so we get to play most of the year. Currently I'm working on keeping the driver in play more. I recently had a driver fitting session and got a 910D3. Need to get some rounds in with it to see how the set up suits me.
What's your best score and where did you shoot it?TIM: 67 at Sapulpa Golf Course in Sapulpa, Okla. Was one of those days when everything felt good and all the putts fell. It must have been the Pro V1x.
TT: How do you mark your Titleist golf ball? Does it have any special significance?TIM:
I mark it with eight lines all around the number on the ball. It's
similar to a sun pattern. It lets me know that the new day is here with
new possibilities in golf and life.
TT: What's the most special moment you've ever had on the golf course?TIM: Partnering with my dad in numerous team events and winning. My dad has always been a role model for me in golf and life.
TT: What's the best piece of golf advice you have ever received?TIM: Let the club do the work, you just swing it.
TT: What's your favorite Titleist club in the bag?TIM: My Scotty Cameron Laguna 2. It's the oldest club in my bag for a reason, hard to replace something that pleases the eye so well.
TT: If you had to play one golf course every day for the rest of your life, which one would it be?TIM: Las Vegas Paiute Resort courses. I play in an annual tournament there. The staff is great and the courses are always in perfect shape. Plus it's in Vegas.
TT: How did you hear about Team Titleist? What are some of your favorite features of the community and what kind of things would you like to see in the future?
TIM: I stumbled onto it while looking at the Titleist site. I signed up and started interacting immediately with like-minded golf enthusiasts. All the people on the site are very insightful and from all walks of life. They are interested in what you have to say and are always there to lend advice to those who ask. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. The opportunities that are afforded by the group at Titleist are second to none. I would like to see opportunities for members to meet Tour pros and interact with them. Or maybe drawings for custom fittings.
TT: Favorite golf movie?TIM: "Caddyshack."TT: Favorite golf book?TIM: Any of the Harvey Penick books. He was so in tune with how to teach people to play golf. Would have been an honor to meet him.TT:
Favorite 19th hole meal?TIM: STEAK. I would eat steak every meal if possible. Guess I'm a carnivore by nature.
TT: Favorite golf destination?
TIM: Las Vegas. It gives you something to do every minute of the day, and there are plenty of courses to choose from in the area.
TT: Do you have any on-course superstitions?TIM: I mark my ball with the same marker (Scotty Cameron coin). And my clubs have to be in the proper slots in the bag to work right. I buy pink tees and keep them in my bag for breast cancer research.
