Team Titleist caught up with Titleist Brand Ambassador Erik Compton yesterday at the AT&T National, just a few days removed from his first-career victory at the Nationwide Tour's Mexico Open.
Erik, 31, a two-time heart transplant recipient, closed with a final-round 6-under 65 at a rainy, windy El Bosque Golf Club for a 17-under 271 and two-shot victory. The win pushed Erik to No. 2 on the Nationwide Tour money list, in prime position to earn a 2012 PGA Tour card.
“My lifelong goal has been to get to the PGA Tour and now I’ve done that,” said Erik, who has now made the cut in 12 of 13 starts this season on the PGA Tour and Nationwide Tour. He is also playing in this week's AT&T National on the PGA Tour.
Check out the above video to hear more from Erik on his victory, the Pro V1x golf ball and his Titleist equipment.
As the country's top PGA club professionals gathered for their 44th national championship at Hershey Country Club in Pennsylvania, the momentum and unmatched success of Titleist across every major equipment category was evident once again.
From golf balls to drivers, fairway metals, hybrids, irons, wedges and putters, more players made Titleist their top equipment choice at the 2011 PGA Professional National Championship than any other.
Not only did more players rely upon Titleist equipment with overwhelming success at the showcase event for PGA club professionals, David Hutsell, director of instruction at the Elkridge Club in Baltimore, won with it.
Below is our final set of pictures from this week's debut of the new Prototype Titleist AP1, AP2, CB and MB (712 series) irons at the PGA Tour's AT&T National.
In the coming days, we will be posting more updates from Aronimink Golf Club, including player reactions and interviews with our Titleist Golf Club R&D experts.
Over the next several weeks, the seeding and tour validation process will continue across the worldwide professional tours. Our Titleist Brand Ambassadors on the European Tour will begin testing the new prototype irons next week at the Barclays Scottish Open.
As always, stay tuned to Team Titleist for all the latest information and behind-the-scenes updates.
