Steve Stricker Leads an 8-Win Week for Titleist
with Prestigious Win at the Memorial.
Fairhaven, MA (June 6, 2011) – Demonstrating perseverance and an intense determination to succeed, Titleist Brand Ambassador Steve Stricker trusted the Pro V1x golf ball and a bag of Titleist equipment to top a world class field and capture the Memorial Tournament. Stricker’s victory headlined a week in which eight victors on the Worldwide Professional Golf Tours put their trust in a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball.
Titleist golf ball players have now earned 66 victories across the Worldwide Professional Tours in 2011, six times the nearest competitor with 10 and more than all golf balls combined. In total, 8,222 players have teed up Titleist golf balls in competition on the 2011 worldwide professional tours, more than six times the nearest competitor with 1,289 and more than all competitors combined.
• PGA TOUR: Stricker fired four consecutive rounds in the 60s at Muirfield Village, capped by a closing 4-under 68 to edge two players, including Pro V1x loyalist Brandt Jobe , who closed with a 7-under 65.
- Stricker took the lead during the second round by making his second career hole-in-one on the eighth hole. He finished at 16-under 272 en route to the 10th PGA Tour title of his career. The 44-year-old Stricker has won seven tournaments after turning age 40.

- Titleist Brand Ambassador Rory McIlroy (Pro V1x, 910D2 driver, 906F2 fairway metals, MB irons, Vokey Design wedges, Scotty Cameron 009 putter) finished solo 5th, five shots behind Stricker, and was followed by fellow Titleist Brand Ambassador Gary Woodland (Pro V1, 910D3 driver, 910F fairway metal, 503I utility iron, MB irons, Vokey Design wedges, Scotty Cameron prototype GSS putter), who finished alone in 6th, a further shot back.
- With the win, Stricker moves up four places to No. 4 in the Official World Golf Ranking, making him the highest-ranking American.
- Of the 12 players who finished among the Top 10 and ties at the Memorial, 10 trusted a Titleist golf ball for their success. Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball of choice at the event with 85 players, more than eight times the nearest competitor with 10. Titleist also was first in iron sets (40); sand, lob and approach wedges (106); and putters (50).
• LPGA TOUR: The top four finishers at the ShopRite LPGA Classic trusted Titleist golf balls, led by Brittany Lincicome (Pro V1x) who converted a clutch up-and-down for birdie on the final hole that gave her a one-shot victory over Ji-Yai Shin (Pro V1) and Cristie Kerr (Pro V1). The 25-year-old Lincicome closed with a bogey-free 5-under 66 en route to an 11-under 202 total. Catriona Matthew (Pro V1x) finished alone in 4th at 9-under 204.
- The win marks the fourth LPGA Tour title for Lincicome and her first win since the 2009 Kraft Nabisco.
- Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball of choice at the event with 112 players, more than eight times the nearest competitor with 13.
• CHAMPIONS TOUR: Pro V1 loyalist Bob Gilder rolled in a 30-foot birdie putt on the final hole to seal a one-stroke victory at the Principal Charity Classic. The win is the first for Gilder since 2006. The 60-year-old Gilder closed with a bogey-free 6-under 65 that gave him a 14-under 199 total and his 10th career victory on the Champions Tour.
- Mike Goodes (Pro V1x) and Rod Spittle (Pro V1) each came in at 65 to finish two strokes back. Mark Calcavecchia (Pro V1x) closed with a 69 to finish alone in 5th, three shots off the lead.
- Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball of choice at the event with 53 players, more than four times the nearest competitor with 13. Titleist also was first in iron sets (22); and sand, lob and approach wedges (73).
• NATIONWIDE TOUR: Steve Wheatcroft (Pro V1x) eagled the final hole to cap off a record-setting performance that led to his first career win at the Melwood Prince George's County Open. The 33-year old fired a final round 7-under 64 and lapped the field by a Nationwide Tour-record 12 strokes.
- With rounds of 66-60-65-64, Wheatcroft finished at 29-under 255, the lowest 72-hole total in the 22-year history of the Nationwide Tour. The previous mark of 258 was set by Titleist Brand Ambassador Chris Smith at the 1997 Omaha Classic and later matched by Daniel Chopra at the 2004 Henrico County Open. Wheatcroft's margin of victory is also the largest in Tour history, topping the previous mark by one.
- Ryan Armour (Pro V1x) did his best to close the wide gap established by Wheatcroft. He fired a final round 9-under 62 for a 17-under total and vaulted him into a tie for 2nd with Titleist Brand Ambassador Jon Mills (Pro V1x, 910D2 driver, 910F fairway metal, 909H hybrid, AP2 irons, Vokey Design wedges, Scotty Cameron Laguna 2 putter), who closed with a 6-under 65.
- Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball of choice at the event with 109 players, more than six times the nearest competitor with 18. Titleist also was first in iron sets (41); sand, lob and approach wedges (147); and putters (73).
• SUNSHINE TOUR: Titleist Brand Ambassador Justin Harding (Pro V1x, 910D3, 910F, 710CB, Vokey Design wedges) earned his 2nd career South African Tour victory when he closed with a 2-under par 70 en route to a 14-under par 202 victory total at the Lombard Insurance Classic. Titleist Brand Ambassador Louis de Jager (Pro V1x, 910D3, 910F, 710CB, Vokey Design wedges) finished alone in 3rd, two shots back.
- Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball of choice at the event with 56 players, four times the nearest competitor with 14.
• JAPAN TOUR: It was a Titleist Pro V1x 1-2-3 finish at the Japan Golf Tour Championship where J.B. Park (Pro V1x) fired a final round 3-under 68 to earn his first career win in just his 23rd start.
- Park finished the tournament (the second major championship of the year on the Japan Golf Tour) at 6-under 278 to edge Daisuke Maruyama (Pro V1x, 910D3 driver, 910H hybrid, CB irons, Vokey Design sand and lob wedges) by one shot and Brad Kennedy (Pro V1x) by three strokes.
- Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball of choice at the event with 60 players. Titleist also was the top choice in hybrids (44); and sand, lob and approach wedges (103).
• CANADIAN TOUR: Titleist Brand Ambassador Jose de Jesus Rodriguez (Pro V1x, 910D3 driver, 909F2 fairway metal, MB irons, Vokey Design wedges, Scotty Cameron Newport 2.5 putter) closed with a 4-under 66 to earn a two-stroke win at the Times Colonist Island Savings Open. Rodriguez, who held a one-stroke overnight lead, posted a 13-under-par 267 total. He played the final 34 holes of the tournament without a bogey. It was his second straight win, and second of his career, on the Canadian Tour. Rodriguez won the Mexican PGA Championship in May.
• KOREAN TOUR: SoonSang Hong (Pro V1x) captured the Subaru Classic by two strokes over two players, including HyukJae Choi (Pro V1). Hong, who began with the day with a five shot lead over Choi, finished the week at 8-under 276, for the third victory of his career.
- Of the 12 players who finished among the top 10 and ties, 8 relied upon Titleist golf balls for their success, including 4 of the top 5. Titleist was the most played golf ball at the event with 104 players (72%), more than six times the nearest competitor with 17.
