The Vokey Tour Department has been buzzing lately, and it has to do with much more than the sound of the grinders.
In just two weeks, new Prototype Titleist Vokey Design SM4 wedges, the next generation of Spin Milled wedges from Master Craftsman Bob Vokey, will be making their PGA Tour debut at The Barclays.
Bob and his team in Carlsbad, Calif., have been busy the last few weeks grinding, shaping and finishing the new prototype wedges to the custom specifications of our Titleist Brand Ambassadors.
For the last year, Titleist Brand Ambassadors such as Adam Scott, Nick Watney and Rickie Fowler have been taking part in the testing and performance validation process for the Prototype SM4 wedges at Titleist's Oceanside (Calif.) Test Facility, offering ongoing feedback on a new groove design and profile improvements, as well as new lofts, bounce options and sole grinds.
At The Barclays, Bob, Vokey Tour Rep Aaron Dill and Director of Wedge Development Rick Nelson, will be working with players to get them dialed in to the new Prototype SM4 wedges and capture additional feedback.
We will continue to provide behind-the-scenes information and product details here on the Team Titleist blog throughout the seeding and performance validation process.
The new SM4 wedges are scheduled to be available for purchase in mid-November.Click the photo below for some sneak-peek images of Prototype SM4 wedges from the Vokey Tour Department and Oceanside Test Facility.

The Sole and Back of the Wedges Look Really Sweet, I Wish they Would Show Some Pictures of the "Buisiness Side" of the Club Which Strikes the Ball. Club is Stamped Spin Milled 4, But No Pictures of the Face and Grooves.

Looks like the Vokester and his team of elves has been busy! If I'm lucky I should find a 50.08, 56.10, and a 60.08 (nicely wrapped w/a red bow) under my tree. They look sweet!

While I am a fanatical Vokey fan, I find it impossible to keep up due to the cost. I have 5 vokey wedges and have to wonder what the new ones will improve on over the ones I have.
