Fighting through high winds and heavy rains resulting from the remnants of Hurricane Irene, Brittany Lincicome trusted a Titleist Pro V1x golf ball to victory Sunday at the CN Canadian Open in Quebec.Lincicome, 25, closed with a 2-under 70, getting her Pro V1x up-and-down for par on Hillsdale Golf & Country Club's par-4 18th to win by one shot and lead a three-win week for Titleist golf ball players around the globe, including Pro V1x loyalist Mark Calcavecchia's playoff-victory at the Boeing Classic.Titleist golf ball players have now won 112 times across the worldwide professional tours in 2011, seven times the nearest competitor with 16 and more than all competitors combined.Lincicome's winning pitch came from the downslope in front of the 18th green. Her Pro V1x golf ball landed soft on the soaked, slippery putting surface and took a few small hops before checking up and rolling to 3 1/2 feet from the hole."The greens were pretty wet, so I decided it would kind of skip a little bit and then it was going to stop," she said."I hit it pretty good… I was trying to fly it 40 yards, and 40 yards of a lob wedge is not super easy. So it was great to get it up there close and not have too much pressure to tap it in."Lincicome, who was recently selected to play for the U.S. Solheim Cup team, finished at 13-under 275 (68-68-69-70), finding the winner's circle for the second time in 2011. Fellow Pro V1x loyalist Stacy Lewis shot a final-round 5-under 67 and tied for second place at 12-under 276.It's the first time Lincicome has won multiple LPGA tournaments in the same season."It was cool to finally check that off my list of things to do," said Lincicome, also a winner at the ShopRite Classic in June. "Beginning of the year was Solheim Cup, and then I locked that up, and then (the ShopRite Classic) and then now here. I've been very blessed this year, and hopefully it will keep going."Lincicome was one of 116 players in the field that trusted a Titleist golf ball, more than nine times the nearest competitor with 12 and nearly three times all competitors combined.• CHAMPIONS TOUR: Pro V1x loyalist Mark Calcavecchia earned his first Champions Tour title with a playoff victory at the Boeing Classic.Calcavecchia birdied his final three holes in regulation Sunday at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge in Seattle to get into a playoff with Pro V1 loyalist Russ Cochran, who last month won the U.S. Senior Open. Cochran made his way into the extra session with a 12-foot eagle putt on 18.Both players closed with 7-under 65s to finish the three rounds at 14-under 202.On the first hole of the playoff, Calcavecchia two-putted for birdie and the victory."I think this will help me down the road," he told PGATour.com.Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball of choice at the Boeing Classic with 55 players, five times the nearest competitor with 11 and more than all competitors combined. Funny thing is, Mr. Calcavecchia, his wife and his mother-in-law, stopped in our golf shop the other week. Nice suprise. It was a pleasure to meet him and his family. I've talked to him at the Memorial, but to see him in our golf shop, that was pretty neat! He's a great guy to talk to and has a boat load of Tour stories to tell. He's welcome back anytime. I'm very happy for him. He definitely deserved to win.
