When it comes to memorable shots, sticking an approach shot during a sudden-death playoff that ultimately leads to your first PGA Tour win would definitely fit the bill for most of us.
And for Pro V1x loyalist Rickie Fowler, it certainly stands out as his shot of 2012.
After making par on the final hole of regulation at the 2012 Wells Fargo Championship, Rickie secured a spot in a three-way playoff, stepped back up to the 18th tee at Quail Hollow, split the fairway with his Titleist Pro V1x and put himself into position to close out the tournament.
What happened next?
"I had a good number, and I was aiming right of the hole with the wind coming out of the right, and if I hit a perfect shot, it comes down right on the stick," Rickie said. "I hit a perfect shot at the right time."
After sticking it close – inside of 5 feet on a hole that only gave up four birdies during the final round – Rickie only needed one putt to win the playoff and secure his first career PGA Tour victory.
Check out the video above to hear what Rickie had to say about this shot and stay tuned to Team Titleist as we’ll be sharing more 2012 highlights from Titleist Brand Ambassadors and golf ball loyalists in the coming days.
In the meantime, feel free to share your best or most memorable shot you’ve hit this year in the comments below or on the discussion boards.
