"Something special happens to every player there, every year."

This is what Titleist Brand Ambassador Adam Scott had to say a few weeks ago when Team Titleist asked him about his fondest memories at The Masters.

And after a stunning performance on Sunday that featured Adam rolling his new 2013 Pro V1 golf ball into the cup for a couple of clutch birdies that will go down in Masters history, we have a feeling that the memories from this year will certainly stand out as he claimed his first major crown, donned the green jacket and became the first Australian to win The Masters.

"Golf is a big sport at home, and this is the one thing in golf we hadn't been able to achieve. It's amazing that it's my destiny to be the first Australian to win. It's incredible," said Adam.

Adam, who led the field in Greens in Regulation (77%), converted a 20-foot putt for birdie on the final hole of regulation, only to watch fellow Titleist golf ball loyalist Angel Cabrera (New 2013 Pro V1x) nearly hole his approach shot for a tap-in birdie and force the extra session.

Replaying the 18th as the first hole of the playoff, both players got up and down for par with close chip shots. On the second extra hole, the 10th at Augusta National, Cabrera's 15-foot putt for birdie just missed, setting up Adam's heroics. As daylight fell, Adam drained a dramatic 12-footer for birdie and the historic win.

Playing with fellow countryman and Titleist Brand Ambassador Marc Leishman (New 2013 Pro V1x golf ball, Titleist 913D2 driver (9.5º), 913Fd fairway metal (15.0º), 712U 2-iron, AP 3-4 irons. MB 5-9 irons, Vokey Design Spin Milled pitching (48º), Spin Milled TVD sand (54º) and lob (58º) wedges, Scotty Cameron by Titleist Tour Rat 2 prototype putter) in the next to last group, Adam made his only bogey on the first hole, closing with a 3-under par 69.

Cabrera, playing in the final group, posted a final round 2-under 70, as both players finished regulation in 9-under 279. Cabrera was the only participant to shoot four consecutive rounds under par (71-69-69-70). Leishman tied for 4th, four shots out of the playoff, and his best finish in a major championship.

EQUIPMENT NOTES FROM THE TOUR: Adam played the new Titleist 913D3 driver for the first time in competition this week after switching from the Titleist 910D3. His new 913D3 9.5º driver has an A-1 (neutral) SureFit Tour Hosel setting with a Graphite Design Tour AD DI 8, X flex graphite shaft at 44.75".  Adam worked with Titleist Tour Representative Chris Tuten on the Wednesday of the Tampa Bay Championship to dial in a precision fit. Adam did not put the 913D3 driver into play in Tampa, preferring to work with it during his preparation weeks leading up to the Masters. Adam came to Augusta ready to put it in play and was extremely confident in his performance with it following several practice rounds. Scott cited that he was getting a higher ball flight without increased spin for longer carry distance with the new driver - which would be beneficial to him at Augusta National and going forward.

Adam also put a refined Scotty Cameron by Titleist Futura X prototype putter in the bag this week. He has been working with Cameron since December on the new long putter that provides the high MOI (Moment of Inertia) and path that Adam was seeking. While the design of the putter creates a high MOI, Cameron took the putter one step further by adding more stability to the face with perimeter weighting. High MOI combined with perimeter weighting gives this putter a very unique feel and performance. The putter is made out of aluminum and includes a balance bar and four tungsten weights that are positioned under four adjustable stainless steel weights in the far four corners of the putter for maximum MOI. The putter is 49" in length, has a 79º lie angle and 3º of loft.

Masters Week is finally here.

As we soak in the beauty, excitement and drama of this annual tradition, the overwhelming majority of players in quest of the green jacket have once again put their trust in Titleist.  Fifty-two players in the field at Augusta National are relying on Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls for their success, more than four times the nearest competitor with 12 and more than all competitors combined.

Titleist is also first in iron sets (19), sand, lob and approach wedges (83), and utility irons (6), with six new prototype Titleist 712U models in play this week.

Leading into the first major of 2013, Titleist golf ball players have combined for 37 wins across the worldwide professional tours, more than five times the nearest competitor with seven and more than all other golf balls combined.

Team Titleist was on the grounds at Augusta National earlier in the week to capture some of the mystique and energy that always accompanies The Masters.  Click on the image above to take a walk with us among the azaleas, magnolias and the pristine fairways and greens found at Augusta National.

And if you hadn't heard, Team Titleist is celebrating the year's first major with an exciting opportunity to take home some limited edition gear.

For every green jacket won, most golf fans can remember a single, or series of memorable putts.

Among discussions with players trusting a Titleist golf ball this week at Augusta, Titleist Brand Ambassador Bill Haas reminded us that no one has ever had a poor week on the greens and won the Masters.

Even when Team Titleist asked defending champion and Pro V1x loyalist Bubba Watson about his most memorable shot of 2012, his reply surprised many of us, "Everyone thinks the hook-shot was the shot of the year, but it was the six-incher going in."

Titleist Brand Ambassador Jason Dufner remarked that the speed and severity of the slope at Augusta National is not like anything else on tour.

Pro V1x loyalists Lee Westwood and Louis Oosthuizen added that feel and imagination are the two keys to navigating the greens and making putts.

Every player has their own read, and their own line at Augusta National. But no matter how the ball goes in the cup, the result is the same exhilaration for everyone.
