Winning a PGA Section Championship is an honor every PGA Professional dreams about. Winning 13 section championships, well that's beyond the realm of daydreams - except for one PGA Professional in Nebraska.
On August 13th, trusting his Pro V1x golf ball and a bag full of Titleist equipment, PGA Master Professional and Titleist Leadership Advisory Staff Member Jim White turned in a winning total of eight-under-par 208 to capture the Nebraska Section PGA Professional Champion title - his 12th victory at the event.
Hailing from the West Nine & Learning Center, Jim has at least one Nebraska Section PGA Championship victory in each of the last five decades.
When he's not competing, Jim believes in growing the game of golf from behind the scenes. Just one example of this commitment was Jim’s leadership role twenty-two years ago when he led the charge in creating the inaugural Nebraska State Open. Titleist Brand Ambassador Peter Malnati won the 2010 and 2011 Nebraska State Open before ramping up his professional career, which continues to soar after his first career win on the Web.Com Tour at last week's News Sentinel Open.
Additionally, Jim was instrumental in starting the Nebraska Golf Fore the Troops tournament. To date, this event has awarded over $60,000 in scholarship funds.
So, Team Titleist called Jim to ask him a few questions about his competitive spirit, his role as a PGA Professional and to share any advice for young players. Take a listen to some of the highlights from the interview below and join us in wishing Jim the best of luck on making it a baker’s dozen next year.
