Last week, Titleist Brand Ambassador Jimmy Walker kicked off the new PGA Tour 2013 - 2014 season in style, trusting his Pro V1 golf ball and a full bag of Titleist golf clubs to capture his first career victory at the Frys.Com Open. This week, Team Titleist follows the Tour to Las Vegas for the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
The Vegas tour stop holds a great deal of meaning for us here at Titleist. Las Vegas is the place where, 13 years ago this week, the Pro V1 golf ball was first introduced on Tour. Forty-seven PGA Tour players put the Pro V1 golf ball in play that week, marking the largest pluralistic shift in golf equipment at one event in PGA Tour history.
Since that momentus week in 2000, more than a quarter-million players on the worldwide professional golf tours have trusted their games to Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls, collecting over 2,000 wins in the process.
This week, trust in the Pro V1 golf ball continues, as 94 players in the field of 132 will rely on a Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x, more than seven times the nearest competitor with 12, and more than all other competitors combined.
Titleist is also the top choice this week in the irons (42), sand, lob and approach wedge (141) and putter (47) categories.
The Titleist Tour Trailer was open for business early on Monday morning, as players scraped the dew, hopeful that their early morning hard work (along with a little luck) will carry them to a championship performance come Sunday night here in Las Vegas.
In the slideshow above, enjoy the photos of Titleist Brand Ambassadors Jimmy Walker, Zach Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Scott Stallings, Graham DeLaet, Morgan Hoffmann, Brendan Steele and Chesson Hadley (to name a few) taken before play began on Thursday.
Enjoy the action this weekend as players are sure to go low on this fast desert track. Good luck in your own weekend matches and remember the tip that was first revealed here in Las Vegas. The smart money is always on Pro V1 and Pro V1x!
