It was a quick flip of the European Tour calendar as the 2013-14 season kicked off this week with the South African Open. And carrying over the excitement from last week’s finale in Dubai that featured Pro V1x loyalist Henrik Stensontaking home the DP World Tour Champions title along with the season-long Race to Dubai, Titleist Brand Ambassador Morten Ørum Madsen began the new season in style, trusting a Pro V1x golf ball and Titleist golf clubs through the bag in claiming his first career European Tour title.
Madsen’s win highlighted a weekend in which Titleist golf ball players claimed five victories around the globe, including Shanshan Feng’s win at the CME Group Titleholders (Pro V1x/LPGA Tour); Luke Donald’s successful defense of his title at the Dunlop Phoenix (Pro V1x/Japan Tour); Titleist Brand Ambassador Aron Price’s win at the Gloria Jeans New South Wales Open (Pro V1x/Australasian Tour); and Guang Ming Yang’s victory at the China PGA Champions Chongqing Event (Pro V1x/China PGA Tour).
To date, 21,391 players around the world have trusted a Titleist golf ball on the worldwide professional tours in 2013, more than six times the nearest competitor with 3,252 and more than all other competitors combined.
Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf ball loyalists have now won 155 tournaments on the worldwide professional tours in 2013, more than four times the nearest competitor with 39 and more than all other competitors combined.
This is Team Titleist, let’s wrap-up the week…

EUROPEAN PGA TOUR: South African Open Championship
Titleist golf ball loyalists accounted for 109 players in the field of 156, more than five times the nearest competitor with 19.
The 25-year-old Madsen closed with a five-under par 67 to finish with a 19-under 269 victory total, two shots clear of Titleist Brand Ambassador Jbe Kruger and Pro V1x loyalist Hennie Otto. Madsen was one of only two players in the field to shoot all four rounds in the 60s, posting scores of 67-66-69-67.
“I’m just over the moon,” the Dane said after his breakthrough win. “I’m so happy. I mean coming down here, I expected to play well but I didn’t expect to stand here. It’s kind of clichéd to say it hasn’t really sunk in, but it really hasn’t.”
What’s in Madsen’s Bag?: Pro V1x golf ball, 913D3 driver (9.5°), 913F fairway metal (15°), 913H hybrid (17°), 712U 3-iron, MB irons (3-9) 714 series, Vokey Design Spin Milled pitching (48°), sand (54°) and lob (60°) wedges, Scotty Cameron Newport putter.
LPGA TOUR: CME Group Titleholders
Titleist golf ball loyalists accounted for 41 players in the field of 69, more than five times the nearest competitor with 7.
It was a 1-2 finish for Titleist Pro V1x golf ball loyalists at the season-ending CME Group Titleholders where Shanshan Feng closed with a six-under par 66 to claim the richest prize in women's golf.
Feng opened with four birdies in six holes to go from two shots down to the outright lead, and never gave ground the rest of the way.
Pro V1x loyalist Gerina Piller finished solo second to post her best finish on the LPGA Tour.
Feng played the final 31 holes without a bogey. The win was her third of the year.
Fellow Titleist Pro V1x loyalist Stacy Lewis became the first American since 1994 to win the Vare Trophy for her 69.484 scoring average, the lowest this year on the LPGA Tour.
JAPAN TOUR: Dunlop Phoenix
Titleist golf ball loyalists accounted for 37 players in the field of 84, compared to 23 for the nearest competitor.
Titleist Pro V1x loyalist Luke Donald fired a final round 5-under par 66 to successfully defend his title at the Dunlop Phoenix.
Donald extended his overnight two-stroke lead to a winning margin of six by posting seven birdies and two bogeys en route to a 14-under 270 victory total.
AUSTRALASIAN TOUR: Gloria Jeans New South Wales Open
Titleist golf ball loyalists accounted for 111 players in the field of 144, more than five times the nearest competitor with 21.
Titleist Brand Ambassador and New South Welsh native Aron Price (Pro V1x, 913D3 driver, 913F fairway metal, 909H hybrid, 712U utility iron, new CB irons (714 series), Vokey Design wedges, Scotty Cameron GoLo putter) won the NSW Open by four shots over fellow Titleist Brand Ambassador Jack Wilson (Pro V1, 913D2, 913FD, 712U, 714MB irons, Vokey wedges, Scotty Cameron Newport 2 Notchback putter) and Titleist golf ball loyalists Adam Bland (Pro V1x) and Aaron Townsend (Pro V1).
“I grew up playing in the NSW junior events and I caddied in this event 20 years ago. I have always remembered that so I would rather win the NSW Open then the Queensland or West Australian Open,” Price said following the victory.
Nine of the top 10 finishers, including each of the top seven, all relied upon Titleist golf balls for their success at the event.
CHINA PGA CHAMPIONS TOUR: Chongqing Event
Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball of choice at the event with 102 players in the 133-player field, more than five times the nearest competitor with 18.
Entering the final round three shots behind the leader, Titleist Pro V1x loyalist Guang Ming Yang closed with a 2-under-par 70 to capture the China PGA Champions Tour’s Chongqing event.
Yang finished with a 14-under par 274 victory total, three shots clear of two players, including Pro V1 loyalist Bin Yan.
The win marks the first career title on the China Tour for Yang.
Eight of the 13 players who finished among the top 10 and ties relied upon Titleist golf balls for their success.
