Across the world of golf, the winning momentum continued for Titleist golf ball players, as Pro V1 loyalist Bernhard Langer kicked off the 2014 Champions Tour season with a commanding victory at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship.  Langer birdied five of the last six holes Sunday to pull away from the field in the winners-only event and capture his 19th career Champions Tour title by three shots.

Langer was among 30 players in the 41-man field at Hualalai who put their trust in Titleist golf balls, ten times the nearest competitor with 3.  A similar theme was repeated on the PGA, European PGA and Asian Tours this week, where a vote of confidence was again cast for the #1 ball in golf.  All told, a combined 477 players relied on Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls across the worldwide professional tours this week, nine times the nearest competitor with 53.

To date, 1,312 players have teed up Titleist golf balls in competition on the 2014 worldwide professional tours, more than five times the nearest competitor with 225 and more than all competitors combined.

CHAMPIONS TOUR:  Ten times as many players relied upon Titleist (30) golf balls at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship than the nearest competitor (3). Titleist was also the top choice in irons (13), wedges (34) and putters (12).

The 56-year-old Langer fired his second straight 8-under 64 to post a 54-hole winning total of 22-under 194. The win marks the first victory for Langer since last April, and his second Mitsubishi Electric Championship title (he captured his first in 2005).

"It's a new year and my goal was to get over the hurdle and win as soon as possible," said Langer after the victory. "I'm very pleased and extremely blessed to play golf like this. To be 22 under doesn't happen very often."

Two players finished tied for 2nd at 19-under, including Pro V1 loyalist Jeff Sluman. Titleist Brand Ambassador Jay Haas, one of eight 60-year-olds in the field of 41, birdied the final hole to shoot 7-under 65 and finish alone in 4th, another two shots back.
